But not sure they are related because it happens so rarely.

**What it means:**
It illuminates when Pre-Collision Assist (including Automatic Emergency Braking) is switched off, unavailable, or temporarily degraded due to external conditions (such as mud, snow, ice, or bad weather blocking the front radar or camera sensor).

**What to do:**
1. Check that the front windshield near the rearview mirror and the front bumper/radar area are clean and clear of snow, ice, or debris.
2. In your vehicle's touchscreen, go to the **Driver Assistance** menu, select **Pre-Collision Assist**, and ensure **Automatic Emergency Braking** is switched on.

If the sensors are clean and the setting is on, but the light remains on with an information message, have your vehicle checked by an authorized Ford dealer.

My guess would have been the oil slick dispenser reservoir needed refilling, but apparently not.

Mine does it with the morning dew on the windshield even after running the wipers. Usually clears up in about 10 mins.

I don't think mine has ever emergency braked. The collision light has come on a few times but never felt it brake.

Is this normal for the Maverick? My wife's Infiniti hits the brakes with me at the slightest radar intrusion nearly every time I drive it.

Actual braking is the last of 3 steps it does, and when impact is likely expected, merely to lessen the severity perhaps.

WHAT IS AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

Note: Automatic emergency braking may activate when a collision is imminent. The system cannot prevent all crashes, but may reduce crash severity. Do not test automatic emergency braking or forward collision warning. Testing this system must only be conducted by authorized test facilities using specialized equipment. Do not use automatic emergency braking to replace normal braking for any reason. Relying on automatic emergency braking to stop your vehicle may cause an unexpected accident which could lead to serious injury or death.
Note: The system does not detect animals.

HOW DOES PRE-COLLISION ASSIST WORK

The system warns the driver of potential hazards by providing three levels of assistance.

If your vehicle is rapidly approaching potential hazards the system provides the following levels of functionality:

1. Alert.

1. Brake support.

1. Automatic emergency braking.

Alert: When active, a flashing visual warning appears and an audible warning tone sounds.
Brake Support: The system helps reduce the impact speed by preparing the brakes for rapid braking. The system does not automatically apply the brakes. If you press the brake pedal, the system may apply additional braking up to maximum braking force, even if you lightly press the brake pedal.
Automatic Emergency Braking: Automatic emergency braking may activate if the system determines that a collision is imminent.
Note: If the pre-collision assist alerts are too frequent or disturbing, you can reduce the alert sensitivity. Setting the low sensitivity results in fewer and later warnings of a potential forward collision. The manufacturer recommends using the high sensitivity setting where possible.
Note: Automatic emergency braking performance is not affected by the sensitivity setting.

My 2024 Ranger would get this on mornings with either heavy dew or frost on the windshield. Would go away after a few minutes i think there is a heating element for the sensor to help with it

I lose camera related systems fairly frequently during glass condensation / frost related weather events. I assume what is covering my windshield may also be covering the camera lenses until it clears up after driving for a bit.
