Well what the hell? Am I the only person with this? XLT hybrid lux package, thats it…..Nothing on the window sticker to indicate anything else. What ever it is , the housing is fancy, a darker gray with a grill to the left that looks speaker ish.
Generated a lot of talk 😂

Ok, first response was the right one. It's the interior temp/humidity sensor for the HVAC system.

-Unfortunately, there are no interior motion sensors equipped from the factory.
- The only camera on the windshield faces out.
-The driver alert system doesn't monitor the driver directly, but it calculates how many "corrections" (crossing the lake markers) have to be made over a set period off time. If it detects the driver all over the road, that's when the driver alert goes off.
-The Bluetooth mic is just above the driver's A-pillar.
-No, I'm pretty sure there's no actual call-out for this sensor and it's location in the owners manual, but it's definitely in the service manual.

SIDE NOTE: can people please stop using "Read your manual" or "Search before posting" as default answers? It's very demeaning to well-meaning, and often new, forum members. It doesn't actually accomplish anything, and just makes our forum members look like Asshats.

Owner's manuals, especially Ford's, are not always easy to find information, and the most important information is often buried in side notes under the main text. And trying to find things on this forum isn't always as easy as people like to think it is.

What was the OP supposed to type in the search box in this case? "What is this shiny black circle on the inside of the windshield?" Shockingly, that didn't result in a listing about the interior temp sensor.

Can we please just remember that we all come to this site to share about our quirky, fun mini trucklets, and not all of us have poured over every inch of literature before coming to this page, and that's ok.

Thank you for the comment in your "side note" paragraph. I ignored someone because of that kind of comment. And that is the only person I ignored.

Well I have pulled that panel down when I put in a self dimming mirror and I unplugged that sensor and turned on the the truck on and a message came up saying the driver alert system was non-functional. But what do I know!! HaHa!

Did you unplug the Front Camera (IPM-A)? The connector is right next to the temp sensor.

Thats possible as I unplugged all of them to find a +12 volt and ground for the mirror. By the way tapping into the sunroof wiring is the easiest point to power the mirror.

Reminds me of the time I put a high frequency rodent eliminator in the hallway and forgot my daughter had a hamster. Two or three days later she came to me and said "dad somethings wrong with Bernice". I went and looked and she was in the wheel running until she fell out and laid there for several minutes to catch her breath got back in wheel and did it again. Daughter said she had been doing that for two days = I went and unplugged the device. 😂
Bernice was the hamsters name lol. Not a name you hear everyday from a kid. If she gets a husband hamster, will it be named Edgar or Mortimer ? By the way, the story is hilarious.

Cool so those things really work? I have issues with rodents in my car and thought this was snake oil.
Some are better than others. Some that vary the frequencies are better. Due to carpet and doors and walls that can muffle the sound in a house it may take several. Best to get one with switch to lower frequencies to human range to test noise levels. I usually place one near each entry door. I have three outside doors on my house with an outside plug within 4ft of each and have a sonic device in each one. I live on 28 acres and have field mice, skunks, armadillos, fox, wild pigs, deer, coyote, fire ants, snakes, pill bugs (they are really interesting, are members of shrimp family with copper based blood, eat their own poop to recapture copper. People sell them on eBay and I have a fortune in my yard. Remember when copper based pesticide was used to pressure treat fence posts and after 10+ years the fence would blow over because the fence post was about 2.5" in diameter from about 1" below ground level to 1" above. Pill bugs were eating the post to get the copper.😂) Also have a wild dog come by from time to time that hunts the mice. Will not get closer to anyone than about 100 feet.
