I know there are a lot of jokes being made about this being a card reader, ATM, razor blade disposal slot, etc. BUT, in all honesty, it's where the GPS tracker is hidden.

That's where other controls are for the Lariant/Higher packages would be

I have the lariat with lux and 1st edition package and have the same slot, might be different in the eco boost version

Might be a good holder for the access card if you live in a gated community.

A lot of gated communities just allow access by using Toll Tag.

If you insert your credit card, it allows the vehicle to act as a giant RFID chip at drive through windows, and now you don't have to scramble to put your credit card away while the server hands you bags of food and drinks all at once. The vehicle transacts for you, all hands free. Just be wary of the people with skimmers at red lights. They may try to charge your car(d) while you are stopped so don't forget to pull the card when don't want to transact.

The only two options I can think of is either your tear apart the center console to get it back or you ask for a replacement card.

Honestly it's a card holder so I'm guessing a card fell down there to asking for a replacement might be the easier option.
