I wonder if a spare will be a “no cost option” or if there will be a “up charge”? Or maybe just not available….

edit - spare tire & jack can be ordered as an option

could be unfortunately fix a flat doesn't do much good on a blowout or a large gash, and even on a nail hole the tire dealer guys will tell you they won't plug it for you as the sealant has adverse affect on trying to plug it .....

This phrase from Ford Authority has been used elsewhere, making me think it's in some ad copy.
Strange terms.

Yes. It doesn't mean you don't have a spare. It means you have a temporary use donut and regardless of what trim / model level you have you can buy the 'conventional spare' - I see they no longer call it a 'full sized spare' - which is not a donut.

I'll be damned.

I haven't used a spare tire in at least 10 years, maybe 20. But if Ford wants to delete it, give me something useful like a larger fuel tank.

my miata came with not even a donut, but a compressor and one of those spray cans.

I sprayed the can in, then ran the compressor, when I got a flat a few months in.

Nothng happened.

further inspection revealed that the inner sidewall had been sliced through by the rim.

I called my "Mazda care", for which I'd forsaken roadside on my insurance.

They could only tow me to a dealer--on Friday afternoon before a three day weekend, and neither had the tire in stock.
