This is the only complaint I have with my truck. The brake are not linear. They don’t gradually stop when holding the brake the either don’t stop or they grab abruptly. It’s hard to judge when it gonna do either too. I’m gonna complain about it when I get my first oil change.

I saw that feature, but is the resulting conversation private or can everyone see it?
My guess is private, but I don't know for sure. You could always do a test and see if it pops up on here

That's just a cut and paste robot message they send to everyone
Your message just gets put on a pile that will never be seen.

Maverick's brake is not only nonlinear but also nonpredictable, especially at low creeping speeds. At high speeds it's not that smooth either like all the other cars I have driven. My first Ford and I am wondering do all Ford cars have brakes like this?

Nope, not sure about other Ford hybrids or EVs as this is the first hybrid I have ever driven and owned, but definitely not the same in all Fords.

I just spent a good amount of time putting 1500 miles on the Maverick this week. I can report a couple of strange issues with braking the truck at very low speeds (i.e., one or two feet per second).

In one case, I was in a hotel parking lot looking at parking spaces. I was going only a few inches per second when all off the sudden the truck slammed to a stop. I said to my wife I think I hit a curb (it was dark outside), so I put the truck in park and got out to take a look. To my amazement, there was no curb but rather a clear lane. What I had experienced in the driver's seat was a "thud" and hard stop, as if the truck had run into a tall 90 degree curb.

The second issue I've experienced is with the truck seemingly not wanting to stop at very low speeds, like at a restaurant drive through. It's not that I'm unable to stop the truck, but sometimes it feels like I have to step on the brake very hard to do so. When the truck does finally stop, the brakes grab suddenly rather than smoothly and makes the truck dip in the front. I've been driving for decades, but this issue makes me look like I'm still in driving school.

Can't help but to wonder how many other owners are experiencing these anomalies and what safety implications there are? Also, I'm not a mechanic but wonder what impact these issues are having on the truck's suspension, drive train, steering or other systems.

This is common in the hybrid. I do not see in your post if you have a hybrid or not.

Please report your braking problem to nhtsa.gov

I have a Hybrid XLT Lux, I have this problem all the time. It makes me second guess the brake system in its entirety. As I am at slow speeds no grab no grab then BAM grab and very jerky abrupt stop. Almost feel like the calipers rotate with disc then slam grab and rotate back. It's a feel and hear event Also the car sometimes wants to roll forward as I apply enough brakes to stop but it keeps rolling till you aggressively have to MASH the brakes. This is occasionally

Definitely the worst part of the Maverick. I find myself hovering over the brake as opposed to heel down on the ground to account for how sensitive this truck is at low speeds. You can learn to manage it (for me, it rarely happens anymore) but the learning curve is real
Exactly this. It's a very small "window" regarding how much pressure to apply to the brake pedal before you go from a smooth stop to the THUD

Good morning! Can you please send over a private message with your VIN and the name & location of your local Ford dealer? I would like to see what I can to to assist with your brakes!

been having the same problem a few days after purchase 6/11/22, just waiting for winter with snow or ice on the ground and rear end someone. I mostly do highway driving and rush hour traffic is the worst.

I’ve experienced this a couple times in over 1200miles driven. It occasionally occurs at very low(crawling speeds). I’ve had hybrids before that had similar behavior at these speeds but not as abrupt. It definitely feels like a software issue and/or fix is In order

Same. Actually pulling out of Chapman dealer lot after purchase there was a loud THUD, and I mean loud! I thought I had hit a curb or something. Happens occasionally still but not as loud. Still constantly have odd braking, and unpredictable stopping power at low speeds.

I'm over 6k miles and I have had the sudden grab stop happen (randomly) at crawling speeds probably 7 times. I've driven two different types of Toyota hybrids and never had that issue and I actually worry about it more come Winter.

I have a little over 11000 miles on my Lariat Hybrid and have encountered this "grabbing" or sudden stopping at low speeds too many times to count. Talked to my dealer and they said "normal, get used to it" which is what I have done but it's gotten to the point where my wife or son won't drive the truck (win for me). I have driven other hybrids (Ford and Hyundai) and have never experienced this type of issue. Has anyone had any luck addressing it with a dealer? If I missed a post with this answered I apologize.
