Just out of curiosity, what’s everybody getting for their top off miles? I’ve noticed mine are all over the place, it’s been anywhere from 440-375. Any idea why such a wide range? Filled up yesterday and it said 380. Just seems odd, you’d think it would be roughly the same every time.

I'm not sure.... but I think it calculates it based on the current consumption (ie. if your avg mileage has declined, it will recalc the estimate for a full tank as lower). Maybe someone else can confirm

I've been wondering about that too. Right now I'm at 100% and it says 416 miles. I figured it was using recent mileage numbers to re-calculate that every time.

It's based on recent driving. When I towed a trailer to North Carolina and back, it took an entire tank for the "miles to empty" to return to what it used to be. It was wild driving around town watching my range go up.

I have a '22 hybrid. It ranges from 425-550 miles. i noticed if it calculated the range low after fill up and resetting, miles are usually added when I drive instead of being deducted. Sometimes I'll start out at 425 miles, start driving in eco mode as usual, and end my trip with more miles higher than calculated and initially displayed when pulling away from the pump.

In my 2021 Bronco Sport base model if I drove the same roads same speeds for three fill ups I’d get pretty close each fill up.
Say,
390,
405,
400,
A trip to Asheville 460 miles to empty on the after trip fill up.
Like that. But if I had rain or wind or got in a hurry just once,
365,
380, miles to empty.

I should add, although the three cylinder dragon motor was smooth with adequate power 180 or 190 HP and what ever torque it was was minimal in my mountains. I always wanted more hp. Got tired of the added gear shifts to hold speed going up hills.
My 2.0 Ltr Eco solved that.
going up all the same hills it never needs to shift after it drops one gear.
Plenty of power now.

When I filled up a few days ago, it said 480 miles to empty. I agree that it is going on the most recent tank of gas. In the warmer summer months, I have seen it on 520.

After you fill up, the MTE estimate will vary widely. The more miles you put on that tank of gas, the closer to reality it will get.

Yes. MTE is calculated based on the most recent 40-50 miles from what I can see.
I towed a small trailer full of Christmas trees a few weekends ago, using tow mode in the transmission so the mileage was obviously lower than normal. It took about week to get back to where it normally is.

It knows the volume of the tank, the amount of fuel (within a margin of error), and computes the mpg rate based on how that volume of fuel changes over however many miles. When you fill it up, it's just reading out your current mpg x the full tank will net you around that many miles until empty. It will change wildly depending on if you're on the highway or side streets or towing etc.

It calculates miles to empty based on current rate of consumption. When you get down to 120 miles to empty. Push the go pedal to floor for two or three lights and watch how fast the miles to empty disappears......

It takes your most recent 250 miles MPG x 16.5 in the EB and most recent 250 miles MPG x 13.8 for the Hybrid.

Both trucks have "reserve" gas past this range, but this is how the range is calculated. Literally.

Of course you get a number in less than 250 miles if you have fewer than 250 miles on your truck. But it's about as good as it gets with 250 miles of data.

Example: you drop your MPG pulling a trailer and it takes 250 miles to fully adjust to the towing condition. It will start dropping in a few miles. But it's fully adjusted in 250.
