Obviously 235-65-17 is fine as it comes OEM.

I see lots of posts about the 245-65-17's seemingly working out, which end up with a diameter of (29.5", 3.6% change from stock 225 ).

Seeing as I am interested in added height more than width I was curious about either a 225-70-17 (29.4" Diameter, 3.6% change from stock 225) or 235-70-17 (30" diameter, 5% change from stock 225) instead.

I've read that around 3% change from stock is the about the most you can do.

I'm going to a tire shop tomorrow so they can take a look under and give some feedback on fit options.

I think your 225/70 would work. I do not think a 235/70 will fit. You’re going to run into issues at full lock of the wheel. I’m running 245/65’s and there’s not a ton of wiggle room at full lock.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately 225/70-17 doesn't seem to exist - 0 results on tire rack. 235/70-17 does though.

I'll probably just go with 235/65-17 and go with Cooper AT3 or the wild peak's then.

What kind of gas mileage have you been seeing in the 245/65's?

Right around 700 miles on the truck, 550ish on the tires and averaging 27.

Could always add small lift... 1 or 2 inches lol

I am going to go with a 235 65 17. After all the research and posts, its the best bang for the buck and the biggest tire you can get under there if using the same size as a spare if you have a trailer hitch. If you are worried about ride height there is a 1.5 and 2 inch lift kit coming out. Don't sacrifice losing rear gear ratio with a much taller tire IMHO.

I'm curious if a 235/70 or 235/75 fits. The 245/65 is slightly wider so you might have the space to fit a narrower, taller tire. I would be shocked if the 235/70 didn't fit.

The 235/75 is a lot. From pics, I doubt it would fit without a lift.

Welp, someone needs to try it so we'll know for sure.

I vote you. 🤠

I gladly would. My wife's Rogue, which uses 225/65r17, is about due for new tires. Perfect timing.

Except that I ordered my Maverick on 9/28, so probably won't be any attempts until next spring...if things go right.
