I still wanted one simply because a small truck hadn’t been available for decades.
That's why I got the Maverick and not a 2019-present day Ranger.
Baring any encounter "with the other guy".
I plan on taking care of MY Maverick, Iike I have with my past Rangers and hope to have a "Long and Happy Ride"

My Dad used to always say they are all good when they run and pieces of shit when they don't. He was was not brand specific, Mopars, Ford, Chevy's. Even a VW pickup truck which he hated. He was a contractor.

I can't think of a single manufacturer who hasn't had a major engine or frame malfunction...and that includes all foreign manufacturers including Mercedes, BMW, Toyota etc. Some will do full engine or frame replacements while others try to patch and mend until their warranties expire. Most US companies use the patch and mend method with continual TSBs.

I don’t expect to get 100k trouble free, or otherwise, miles out of my Maverick, or any other make now. I believe the days of super reliable, 200k+ cars is over.

Frankly, when Ford first announced the Maverick hybrid being the lowest price hybrid on the market at the astounding price of $21,490, the first thought that came into my mind was “How cheaply made is that thing?”
While we have dealt with the Maverick hybrid growing pains for the last two years (actually, just one, the charging and "deep sleep" issues) we have not soured on it. On the other I still believe the vehicle should give 100K miles relatively trouble free otherwise, as long as it isn't abused. We bought a 2012 F-150 EcoBoost model new and have had it for 145K trouble free miles so far, and while the turbos will eventually go someday, it has been a trooper. At least with that class of vehicle I would expect them to go 250K or more miles fairly trouble free.

I have owned vehicles from Ford, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Jeep, GMC and Subaru. my experience has been that every single manufacturer had some recalls and every single manufacturer had one problem that was fixed under warranty. Overall reliability has been on par amongst all of them. Also, I have been on a forum like this for every one of those brands that I have owned. If I believed all that is said on these forums as being widespread, chronic problems, I would have to start walking everywhere. If the complaints on all of the forums were as widespread as what it appears, every car from every manufacturer is a piece of junk that won’t last more than a couple of years. So, my answer to your question is yes, every manufacturer encounters problems with some of their vehicles. These things are complex. But I also believe every one of those manufacturers produces good quality reliable vehicles.

Well I know way back in the early 60’s my parents had a Chrysler they bought new that had issues dealers nor auto shops could get to stay fixed. I took care of it by totaling it at the age of 16.
Let me guess, you have some hybrid gremlins
No question, it is a learning experience with a Hybrid and the dealership could have been more helpful but I did not know, all that I needed to know. Still a learning curve, Not the Maverick's fault, but my fault!

I’d like to know if all automobile manufacturers occasionally produce vehicles that have chronic problems that neither the manufacturer nor service people never seem to be able to correct. Not looking for names. Just a general consensus.

If this post is not suitable for the forum by all means delete it.
Yes.

Adjusted for inflation, new vehicles are generally cheaper than 20 years ago. How? The automakers keep cost cutting the components with each new generation. That's how we end up with these problems. Every automaker is doing it.

My friend has a Chevy truck. It is four years old and has had the big screen replaced FOUR TIMES. Has had the wiring harness totally replaced. One time, it didn't even make it of the dealer's lot before it broke. It has been in the shop for a week now for something. He picks it up Monday, will probably take it back Tuesday.
I told him to just get a Tundra. No way!! He's a dedicated Chevy man. And, I think, a masochist!
He also rides a Harley, so I have given up.

In the 50's my father had a new Mercury that had engine problems. No one could figure out the problem. The engine was replaced under warranty and when the old one came out the factory rep took a sledgehammer to the block. Problem solved. :-}

I still hear people say these all the time. Now that I own a Ford for the first time, I can kind of get where they come from. :ROFLMAO: Another was, "Frends don't let friends buy Fords".
Haha, a friend (GM fanboy) said that to me when he heard I traded my Kia for the Maverick. I suggested he buy me a new Colorado or STFU. I said it with love in my heart and a big smile… no response except for, “ is there a game on?”

...Don't forget the old saying Found On Road Dead and my favorite Fix Or Repair Daily...
Or one a friend of mine used to use a lot, "Fk'd On a Raw Deal." Although he was usually referring to the scumbag local Ford stealerships in his area.

Pinto and Vega come to mind. Mazda rotary engines, Nissan cvt trans...I was selling a Mazda 626 and the buyer asked if it was a lemon. I said you don’t get 204,000 miles on a lemon, so he bought it for his daughter!

My brother had a Vega. The tail lights worked. The headlights were fine.
Everything in between was raw, unadulterated JUNK.
