There's nothing aftermarket outside of the metal skid plates above.

Storm chasing with a Maverick? Seems like it should be loaded with Anvils. You might just remove those fiber board covers until after storm season. I didn't consider those covers protection, I thought they provide a comfortable riding space for the squirrels chewing on my wiring. 😀

Normal storm-chasing does not require off-roading through farmer's fields. The Mav is an on-road vehicle.

That’s from pretty solid dirt roads which is what most of the stuff in my vicinity is

Aero. There is actually a lot of drag caused under the vehicle, so making it smoother reduces some of that. Surprisingly these sheets also stop a lot of dust and dirt from getting up into the working spaces.

I had to wade through deep water in several areas last month due to road being flooded from a torrential rainstorm, and mine are still intact. I actually took a look underneath the next day, once the ground was dry. My first thought was the glorified felt/panels may have been dislodged, or torn, however they were just fine. I did have mud up in the driver side fender, which I hosed out, and promptly installed one of the cavity shields the following weekend, courtesy of Amazon Vine.

How fast, and how deep was the water?

Nothing crazy just a few puddles at 20 to 30 mph I’m wondering if it had a rip in it before and the rain put stress on it and ripped it potentially that’s the only way I could see water doing that to it

I wish I would’ve in hindsight but I needed a vehicle quick and they didn’t have any fx4 on any of the lots near me I would definitely get one if I did it all over again
