Well me wife was driving on I-95 and a tile truck entered the highway and either kicked up a rock or something came off the truck. It was rush hour and she had no where to go. Just replaced the windshield in January. Left a 1 inch chip. Safelite came out the next day and as he started the repair the and chip spread and cracked in different directions. Will get the windshield replaced Monday. I own 2 Mavericks going on 9 months now have replaced 2 windshields on one and repaired 1 chip on the other. Manufactures are sure using cheap glass now. I'm glad windshields are no deductible in Florida.

Does either of your Mavericks have a bug shield? If not, you might want to consider buying one to see if there is a noticeable difference of rock chips in the future. Just saying even if 0 deductible it has to affect insurance cost more importantly your loss of time and the inconvenience getting replaced or fixed.

Just fixed a chip in my 2024 and haven't even owned it for 1 month. Luckily it was a very superficial couple chips and I immediately got home and laid some resin on it and let it cure. Shows a tiny bit but can't feel i when you rub your fingers over hit so we'll see. Might just order some spare repair kits now so i have them on hand and might suggest everybody do the same. At the fmvery least carry a bottle of resin and a few curing strips in your glove compartment when needed. Cheap uv flashlight would be handy too. Picked mine up at harbor freight for $8

Definitely frustrating! Repaired one chip a couple of months ago. Picked up two more a couple of weeks ago and one quickly grew to 12+ inches. Had a new windshield installed yesterday. How long will this one last???

I'm in Michigan. By mid-winter half of our road surfaces are loose gravel. In the past year that I owned the truck, through effectively second winter now, I only had one close call with a flying rock, where the windshield got a nice surface scratch from the impact but didn't crack, and I am not counting the bunch of minor hits that sounded scary but did no damage at all. The Maverick windshield is no better or worse than any car I drove in the past 25 years.

With this one simple trick you can greatly reduce windshield cracks - KEEP YOUR DAMN DISTANCE!

Stuff happens, but when I see complaints about "today's glass isn't what it used to be" and people replacing multiple windshields a year...maybe, just maybe, the problem is you? Maybe you don't understand that the Maverick's windshield is more upright that most SUVs and sedans, and gets hit harder because of that? Maybe you tailgate construction trucks? Maybe you follow at 10 feet on the highway at 80+ mph where even a small pebble kicked up gets you a new windshield? So many maybes, so many of them point to the driver...

Whenever I drive on the highway or freeways, the first thing I look for is cement trucks hauling crap, gravel trucks and large 4x4 trucks with monster tires. I also speed up and get ahead of those construction guys who don't have collapsible/retractable ladders and have those long 15 foot ladders strapped on the back of their truck with it "hanging" outside the back of their truck. The other day, I actually moved away just in time and saw this type of ladder slide off..................while we all were going 65 mph!!

Do you guys think that these windshields on the Maverick are bad quality ?
I got a chip right in the middle of driver's view after few days on my truck (500mi) :(
Impossible not see it while driving, very annoying.

Ok, I have to pipe in. I had owned a 2006 Scion XB. Yep, the infamous "Toaster" car. You want to talk about going through windshields? The windshield on this car was literally straight up from the hood. The front of the car was virtually flat. Within a year, the front looked like it had been sandblasted. 3 windshields the first year alone. I got more creative in my driving habits as the years went by.

I absolutely agree.

A while back, a tech from a windshield company posted oh here that the Maverick glass is no weaker than most other autos' windshields.

I've driven my Maverick for over 7k miles and several rocks have hit the windshield loud enough to cause "Oh shit!" moments. They have put tiny chips in the glass, but no breaks or stars in the glass, so far. KNOCK WOOD

Almost every other vehicle I've owned has had to have windshields replaced. I suspect the Mav. windshield will eventually suffer the same fate.

Could be the angle of the dangle or the windshield........?? May also have something to do with the height of the windshield from the roadway. Not necessarily the glass???

New maverick - yearly windshields???

Yep, for sure windshields are getting worse and your insurance rates are going to show it unfortunately. This is not just Ford though, pretty much all manufacturers have the same issue.

People get PPF for their front ends, I'd really like to find some PPF for the windshield.

Same here, still have the toaster, on windshield #5 I think. Got glass protection on my policy after #2. In the meantime, I had my 2011 Nissan for 12 years and never got so much as a chip in the glass; 1st month of trading it in for the Maverick and what looked like a battery flew up and cracked it, on windshield #2 already and the heated wipers mean it isn't cheap. May need to upgrade the Aeroskin hood protector to a full raised deflector.

Upright windscreens suck!

KEEP YOUR DAMN DISTANCE is impossible on I-495 during rush hour, give a car length and you're cut off by the closest bimmer or IDGAF work van and risk rear-ending them instead.
