Turn Auto AC off?

Hello, as winter will be approaching, I’m genuinely concerned that my truck will continue to automatically turn the AC on, especially when I’m remote starting TO WARM IT UP in the winter.

My “auto” switch has all 3 lights off, assuming this means off but shouldn’t be so sure with this design… and my remote start is enabled… obviously… but I have it set to “remember last settings” so when I turn off my AC before turning the car off, the AC is automatically back on every time I start the car.

Again, all buttons for auto are off but the truck turns AC on automatically every time and I’m concerned as any normal person would be with winter coming and the truck needing AC on during freezing temperatures.

It’s all in the owners manual. I set my cabin temp to where I want it, winter or summer.
My A/C runs when needed and the heat comes on as needed.
I do preset my heated steering wheel and seats when I shut down.

I’m unsure of the exact temperature threshold, but in Colorado, it seemed to switch to heat below 60°F. The automatic climate control likely cannot be disabled during remote start.

Why do you believe this is a problem? If you don't need cooling the AC will shut down as soon as the computer(s) figure out the Temperature/Humidity parameters.

I hear you, it was actually below 50F this morning and I'd mostly driven my Mav during warmer times, so I had to fiddle with things in a way I previously hadn't even considered. Instead of the rock bottom "low" setting, I set an actual temperature, and all was fine from there.

Not the way I see it.
My auto A/C keeps the cabin at the temperature I select and has nothing to do with the outside air temperature.
If I set it at 72 degrees it holds that.
On my early morning commute my heat comes on if it’s colder INSIDE the cabin. When the cabin is hotter than my set temp the A/C comes on. And powers up the fan as needed.
My three light auto A/C is always on two.
Only on super hot summer afternoons I light up three LED’s
I’ve never used or needed the dual air control where the passenger selects a different temp.

This is in the owners manual that most don’t read.

Well it’s 67 degrees this morning, I’m not sure what planet you live on but that’s not AC temperature… and I don’t want my truck choosing to blow AC for me when it’s 67 degrees lol… I’m always the odd one out, but back in the day (5 years ago) when you could choose settings in your car now seems like a luxury

Where you live and the humidity level, has a lot to do with how the AC performs.

It's worth mentioning that the AC isn't just about cooling. It helps with anti-fog in winter. Not here to discount your request. Just adding some thoughts.

There have been issues of the AC being back on despite being off when truck last parked.
Forget remote start - just normal usage.

If you do NOT have the Auto button pushed - The auto-AC for humidity control (which is needed in winter too, just with heat) occurring usually doesn't have the lights on the button - you can just tell it's on.

Can you go pretend you are the manual remote start - if you go start it, are the last settings still in place, or does the AC happen to be enabled with a button light?

Now - if you have the Auto-temp being used, forget it, whatever is needed will be used.

And probably every car you have had - when you turned on front defrost option - the AC was being used too. And no AC button had to be pressed.
I recall my '88 Ford/Mazda doing that.
Cold not required.

No need to get snarky. It sounds like you have a personal problem with the way your truck is designed to work so either live with it or keep complaining.

It factors the outside temperature, inside temperature, & amount of sunlight into setting fan speed, etc. That little knot in the middle of the dash is the light sensor.
