YOU are a breathing humidifier. Sit in your car without running the ventilation system and watch the windows fog up in minutes. In most cases, if it’s cold and you’re sitting in your vehicle with no fog on the windows, the ac compressor is running whether you know it or not

I hang DampRid from the rearview mirror to save the unwarranted wear on the compressor. 👌

The AC is used to dehumidify the air before it gets heated to speed up defog/avoid fogging. Especially beneficial on those chilly mornings when the outside humidity is high. This is fairly universal with automatic climate systems.
And has been the case with automatic climate control since at least the 1970’s. The ac compressor ran on every setting except vent. If you had the system on auto, the ac compressor was on. On some vehicles the compressor didn’t come on if it was below 40 or so. But any other time it was on. And in the last 30 years or so, if the defogger or defrost was on, the compressor came on even with a manual ac. Some cars indicated it. Others didn’t. But it was still on. I don’t understand why a person would get stressed out over it since that’s the default setting. Besides the Maverick has a variable displacement compressor. So when it’s operating under low demand conditions, it doesn’t pump as hard. And it places very little load on the engine. On the hybrid, the compressor runs slower. So he’s obsessing unnecessarily.

Unless you are putting your car into storage, you are wasting your money with this. If you ARE putting your vehicle into storage where it will sit unopened for a good length of time, this is a great idea.

Vehicle A/C compressors should run occasionally to keep the lube and refrigerant where it's supposed to be.

If it's 67 degrees out and your temperature is set to 72, it won't start cooling the truck even if the AC is "on." Modern vehicle climate control systems aren't like the old manual knobs for heating and cooling.

And as many have noted, the AC system can reduce the humidity in the truck, and comes on with functions like, say, maximum setting on the defogger (which also runs maximum heat). Unless you're worried about gas mileage, leave it on when it comes on.
With a modern AC system such as is on the Maverick, he doesn’t even have to cut it off for gas mileage if the outside temperature was low. The Maverick has a variable displacement compressor. So when it is operating under low demand conditions, the dis placement changes. And it doesn’t pump as hard. In fact, if you were not aware of the type of compressor it had and had your gauges connected, you would think that the compressor was faulty because you’re low and high pressure would be virtually the same. And the compressor would be placed very little load on the engine. . But as the conditions changed and the demand was higher such as with a high ambient temperature, the compressor would pump harder, and you would see the pressure differential that you would expect. Newer vehicles have a lot of technology that helps increase efficiency.

Just want to highlight this because it is even said specifically in the manual.

I was joking! We're all to serious sometimes.

Those of us who went through high school are well aware of this fact lol 😁

I ha.ve had my '23 XLT hybrid for about a month. I keep my climate control set on 78, and in the recent high 80s of Birmingham, AL, my CC would set itself to LO when I remote started the truck and it was sitting in the sun (I also put up a windshield shade when its hot).
I am looking forward to winter to see how it does in cold weather, ESPECIALLY those rare times when the truck is coated in ice and the doors are frozen shut. I hope the heating system will provide enough heat to unfreeze the doors before the truck shuts off.

Your truck setting for remote start climate control sounds like it's set to Auto, not the option for last used.
You can usually tell by the change when you do start the truck from it running in remote mode. Climate control should go back to last used.

For winter then - if still set to auto, it'll probably back off the heat when the air temp looks decent enough - but that may not be hot enough to melt ice or door gaps.
You may need option for last used - and remember to put settings where needed. And point vents best.
