UPDATE: New tranny is in, works great so far, put about 40 miles on it to charge all batteries.
Ford Maverick Transmission Failure Maverick Hybrid eCVT Original Tranny

Dealership diagnosed this morning, tranny failed on my Hybrid XL, lurched to a stop
as i was traveling approx. 35mph coming home from a 210 mile trip Friday 09/23/22, got 10 miles from home.
I thought it was something to do with the 12v battery cable, I wish. Never had a shudder or
lurching issue before this, never had a single issue ever, 6495 miles. I did have the fire hazard
recall taken care of at the dealership but nothing else. Its devastating but I'm gonna hang tough and
roll with the punches, i love that little truck. Just wonder what kind of timeline were looking at
to get the new transmission, hopefully will find out soon.
Built on 02/23/22, finally got to the dealership 05/04/2022

Sorr to hear that, lets hope this is not a trend. I hope you get it back quick and properly repaired. I worry about this kind of issue in a new design vehicle.

There isn't anything new about this engine or transmission though. This sounds like one bad example in a zillion units produced over a number of years. Let's all hope so anyway.

Exactly, maybe a chinese supplied bushing or bearing eh, new tranny is on its way, 3 day lead time they said.

I will assume they are what we used to call black boxing it. Meaning get a whole new transmission. New transmissions used to come in this black plastic box at GM dealerships. Hence black boxing it. Hope they get you a new one soon. Did you get a rental car?

Got any evidence that it has anything to do with "a chinese supplied bushing or bearing"?

Low-time in service, less than 12 months or 12,000 miles allows use of a complete unit - after 12/12, have to tear down and do a cost comparative analysis and many times forced to do a repair -- UNLESS, no parts available...If it is going to break, hope within 12/12...

Just know if there are any in these tranny's from my years and years of experience in the paper industry buying and inspecting quality high precision spherical bearings and bronze bushings and other components. You have a bearing fail prematurely in a paper machine roll in the machine and people can and do die. Every time we dealt with any Chinese parts there were always issues and they were rejected.

Yup new transmission coming from Detroit, its on its way, i was very surprised that it was available. Going to the dealership tomorrow, they have a loaner for me, whew thank goodness, i thought i was going to have to fight Ford corporate. C.S. said i had to foot the bill for a Rental if it came to that and then they would reimburse me later once the job is done.
