Did you confirm it was the trailer wiring or not first, either a short or corroded electric connectors?

Make sure you have a good ground connection

Make sure the fuse/fuses are installed. I have seen/heard where the fuses are not installed when built.

Thanks for all the replies and sorry I haven't responded until now. I took the trailer off another vehicle and the lights had been working. When I hooked the trailer up to the Maverick nothing, dash indicated no trailer connected. A few days later I went through the trailer wiring and found a broken ground tucked up inside the channel.
