I have a 2023 Maverick XLT with the trailer hitch added, waited 18 months to get. When it showed up the 4 pin connector was hanging down.

We spoke with the sailsmen for a bit and we drove home happy. Salesmen was great and had the part ordered next day, fast forward 3 months and the truck is in to have the work done.

the piece needed was a small plastic clip, what HAD to be ordered was the whole wiring harness. The allotted time for that job is close to two days. The dealership I got my truck from has never done this repair before.

Has anyone else had this done? It seems odd to have to replace the whole harness because of one missing plastic clip.

I have not personally but I believe I remember reading that there is a TSB for trailer wiring harness. Search the forum to verify, if your specific model is affected.

Normally, if it were me, I’d want my truck fixed right and fixed under warranty. But for a two day electrical job, I’d have some concern that it might not be perfectly executed. For that reason, if the pigtail electrically works as is, might it be possible to do an improvised repair with a zip tie or some tape? Or exterior rated glue / epoxy.

I thought about that and opted to wait, this is all warranty and at the dealership I purchased the truck from. Everything was working fine up to the day I put it in the shop (5/13/23) so if there is anything not working right when it comes out... Warranty on the work completed should cover me there. It's been loose since 2/17/23 and they have been aware of it since 2/17/23.

Silly! I probably would have gotten some epoxy and called it done within 10 minutes!
