Hello,

I have a 25 XLT 2.0 awd with the trailer brakes. I am looking into putting a sub in from my last car and was wondering if there would be any issue relocating this module (behind the rear seat). As far as I can tell it is for the trailer brakes. Anyone know if there would be any issues if it gets mounted a different place/ way?

As seen here (19H332), as I have not found out how to attach pictures or something is blocking me...

Thanks!

unfortunately, that link doesn't work, either as it seems to be tied to your browser session.

you probably can move it easily as long as you don't need to lengthen cable.

Nice. I have a picture, but it just says uploading and never seems to.

I guess I was curious if it had any sensors in it (ie, accel/G).

I would be fairly confident that it does not, because they're located in other places in other Ford vehicles.

Proportional trailer brake controllers rely on accelerometers to read slope and braking G force in order to determine how hard you're braking and modulate the trailer brakes accordingly

IIRC my Tekonsha's angle sensor makes the trailer brake harder going downhill, and less when going uphill. So, the module's position might be important

Kinda why I was asking if anyone knew. It seems like integrated ones are base off pedal position, but I don't know if it is solely off that.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing with a sub install behind the back seat (I'm not an audiophile, but I'm realizing that every car I've had for the last 20 years has had a premium sound system, and the sound quality of the stock speakers is just plain bad).

Here are some photos of my 2025 XLT to show what the OP is talking about. The towing control module is the black box in the center of the photo. To its right is the DS7T-15603-CA "Trunk Antenna" module. My towing module is installed parallel to the rear wall, and I imagine it would need to stay in this orientation if it does contain any kind of IMU. Though in Squirlz thread here, he did remove it and place it at an angle...

Hate to drudge up an old thread but I'm faced with this exact issue. Did you move the module? My gut said to just get it off the wall and wedge it somewhere close to where it's already at, just need it to not stick out like it does.

I never did anything. Still have my subwoofer and amp waiting to install once the weather gets better and time frees up.

I've had the Maverick almost a year now, and the bigger sound system complaint is the location of the rear speakers (right at ear level of rear passengers). So when I do find time to work on the subwoofer install I'll likely look into relocating those speakers into the doors - that looks like a lot more work than I'd like though.

Well, if anyone stumbles in here trying to figure out how to get this thing off the bracket, there's a button in the middle on the back of it. You have to reach between it and the wall and push that button and slide it DOWN. Comes right off. There's a hole in the metal the button so just feel around until you hit that plastic nub.
