So after much thinking on my part, I decided to trade my Maverick in. Next week I will be the proud owner of…… another Maverick. I have a 22 and since June I already put 26,000 miles on it. I wanted to put an order in for a 23 but was told they’re not taking anymore orders. I was gonna get an extended warranty for it, but my dealer called me and said he would give me first dibs on a new 22 Alto blue XLT FX4 that just showed up. Best part is, even though the new truck has a higher sticker price than my first truck, my truck with 26,000 miles is worth more on trade-in then a brand new dealer sold Maverick. That is because my dealer refuses to mark his vehicles up above the sticker price. So I actually drove my truck the 26k for free (excluding any interest I paid of course). I never get deals like this so I jumped at it. Only problem I see is the new snow tires I bought for my Maverick are 225/17 but the FX4 rims are 235/17. I hope they fit without a speedometer difference.

Congrats on the "upgrade"! I'll likely be doing the same thing trading mine in for a more feature rich one.

BTW, OEM wheels for the FX4 are 225/65 R17. Your tires will fit just fine.

Congratulations, if its a good deal for you.
But this makes no sense.
He refuses to mark up above sticker price, but he IS marking up a trade in above sticker price with 26000 miles?!?!
Maybe they are making enough money on the financing with higher interest rates?

My bet is the dealer refuses to markup above sticker price on the brand new Mavericks but has no qualms about marking up used vehicles. That is, after all, where dealerships make the real money.

Dealer can sell the new truck for above sticker easily, although happy for you, wondering why dealer is doing all this for you 🤔

This is my third vehicle in a year from this small town dealer. He still has customers from when it was his grandfathers dealership.

How is the dealer making money here? How much is he giving you for your trade-in?
He’s giving me what I paid for it. $28,100

Could be, I am paying 2 points higher.

OTD? if OTD is same for both vehicles then you come out on top. Otherwise, you're still paying more.

I think Ford threatened to crack down on dealers selling over MSRP on new cars not used. Hence my dealer is following that hoping they get more allocations than those selling on markup. Doesn’t seem to be working that way. I could have had an XL base but another deal marked it up 5K. They said it would sell in no time. I have texted them the last two weeks just to see when it sells lol. Not as easy as they thought.
