My truck is in the body shop for repair (for over a month) after someone clobbered me, which is a separate thread if I choose to tell the story. When I took it in on April 6, the shop ran the VIN and told me there was a very recent recall and update for trailer lights becoming inoperable (2025 XL 2.0 ICE w/ 4k tow pkg). I did confirm the existence of the recall on-line later that day. Has anyone here needed to address that issue, and was the update successfully installed via wireless, or did you need to take your truck to the dealer? I am gong to need to tow not long after get the truck back, and I need to plan ahead if I will need dealer intervention. Thanks.

Dealer did the tow module update last month when I took it in for first oil change. Towed my boat, everything worked.
Believe it’s only available for the 25-26 models as of now.

I thought I read Ford was going to push this out so one could avoid a visit to the dealer ... or maybe I dreamt it.

Hi, I have a 23 Lariat, still wait for a fix for the above. Also wait for a fix for the block heater, Ford told me I would have it in Q1 of 26 (LOL)

I've had no issue to date, bud I did get the letter.

If you check the Ford Recall Support site and plug in your VIN, it will likely tell you what it told me.
There is an OTA update, but if that doesn't happen for whatever reason, schedule an appointment with the dealer.

Yeah, I did that an hour ago. Told me it's available as OTA, but not done. My truck has been in the body shop for over a month, so it's possible it has been blocked off from signal and no OTA for that reason. Hopefully it happens when I get it back in a few more days, otherwise I'mm need to schedule with my dealer. Thanks.

For what it's worth, my 2024 Lariat Hybrid stills shows no fix yet. ✌

The OTA Updates only apply to MY25 & MY26 which have the capability. Earlier model years can only get OTA updates for the Audio Unit only - any other software update has to be done at the dealer or ford moble tech

FYI, I have a 2024 Lariat AWD and have received notice from Ford about the recall.

The body shop, at least if it's a Ford Approved one, has to fix all codes under insurance expense. If they have to fix all codes those you did not have done then you will have to pay for them. Plus possibly tow charges to and from dealership if dealer cannot come to body shop for remote update.

I received the recall letter as well. I have a 2023 EB 4K. The letter said a software fix was the plan, but it has not been approved yet. Said Ford would send me another letter when the fix was ready for me. I've not received any other letter since (about a month or two ago).
