Last week I posted for the first time my new 2026 Hybrid Lariat and plan to tow a Geo Pro 17LE travel trailer. There were many replies on the towing capability. So I did the research the math and the weighing to confirm that I can tow this trailer safely. The 4k package has a tongue weight limit of 400lbs. I am right on this number with a 3000lb trailer weight. Trailer empty has a 305lb tongue weight. So AGM battery and propane tank is added. You also need to manage Maverick Cargo weight which includes the 400lb tongue weight. Also don't ever travel with your tanks with water. So is this the biggest trailer you can tow? It's near the limit but a lot of this is about shifting weight, moving weight to truck or saving weight like replacing the AGM battery with Lithium Phosphate which is a lot lighter. Anyway I do not plan to max load the Mav to get some comfort room.

A few things to add. I use a Weight Distribution Hitch which spreads load and helps a little with the tongue weight. My Lariat has side cameras and when using the turn signal the camera turns on and you can see much better than the mirrors. A great feature. Any time you restart your Mav, make sure it still has your trailer as ACTIVE. It lost mine and didn't realize it right away.

Wasn't there something about weight distrubution hitches not being recommended for the Maverick?

Keep in mind the maximum frontal area of the trailer with 4K tow package is 40 square feet.
That is not a set limitation, it's preferred. I am just over 40sq

I have not seen anything on WDH not being allowed. My trailer 3000lbs is more than 50% the weight of the truck which is one criteria to use a WDH. There are other reasons but this was the main one for my setup.

Thanks I went through the whole thread. That guy was pulling 3800lbs and tongue weight 475 I think. Based on my 2600 dry trailer (3000 loaded) my tongue weight was a bit over 400 but the WDH will put it on the number and I might move the propane tank into the truck when on the road. The gross combined weight of truck and trailer is 8300lbs max from the Maverick. This is not on the stickers, it's from the Ford Towing guide. Anyway with 75% cargo load including tongue I am very good for GVWR, GCVR, Axle limits across both vehicles. All went excellent for my test drive and it was a bit gusty. The biggest danger is how people drive but I plan to limit 55 a hell of a lot, keep good distance and signal ALWAYS.

Is this only active while towing?

Yes, I am guessing it's part of the 4k package. Not sure about 2k.
Mirror cameras are on all 2025+ Mavericks with 360 degree cameras ... Lariat, Tremor and Lobo high

I've never noticed them being triggered by the turn signal, that might be a 2026+ thing.

My 2025 has 360 cameras and it doesn't turn on when using the turn signal while towing. Forscan maybe?

Did first trip 150 miles each way going average 55mph and not pushing it. Went very well and averaged 15miles per gallon. Used 99 percent engine.
