2024 Maverick XL Hybrid. Towable 4-down.....which I do, behind a motor home. Does a great job....good as my previous Kia Soul, BTW. So now I want to tow it behind a Uhaul moving truck to my new digs, leave the Uhaul there then drive the Mav back home. The 4-down tow set up installed on the Mav utilizes a 2" receiver hitch on the motor home. No such thing on the Uhaul; gotta use their tow dolly. The Ford owner's manual instructions are clear to tow 4-down behind my RV but not all that specific for towing my Hybrid Mav (2 down) on a dolly. I really think I am good to go ............ just the same as if it were not a hybrid. Thoughts?

I tow 4 wheels down and love it but I understand your situation I have no experience on this subject but have heard others say you can’t dolly it - only four wheels down or trailer it U-Haul has car haulers.

I’d be interested to hear what you decide to do and results if you do dolly it - good luck DO

2024 hybrid is FWD, so it shouldn't be a problem IMO? The rear wheels aren't attached to the driveline in any way, I don't see how it could damage anything

IIRC, there's something needs to be done to prevent the electric parking brake from automatically engaging due to the resulting incline.
Edit: People are successfully dolly towing the FWD hybrid. Looking at related posts below here, it seems that after making sure the parking brake is off after loading on the dolly. You will still get all kinds of malfunction messages upon start up after towing that will clear in a few miles. Maybe, there's now more info people have learned that I did not see.

Thks guys. One of the wierdest posts was from a guy who has a '22 Hybrid ........ all the strange messages etc that were occurring with dolly tow disappeared when he did NOT lock the doors while towing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had not thought about the angle thing causing the truck to think it was being stolen, etc, LOTS of good info to consider. Feel good aspect: Nobody has done any actual harm towing a Hybrid on a tow dolly that I have read so far.

2024 Lariat Hybrid dolly towed from NM to FL without a problem; angles, turning, powertrain, battery. Researched the snot out of this due to all the forum comments. I bought the Mav & 2 days later took off. I did get in & powered it up to ensure I wasn't going to have a battery problem at each gas stop. The error messages freaked me out, but the first time i got it off the dolly, the messages went away within a mile of driving. I pulled it behind a Class C RV & really didn't even feel it back there. Safe travels.

Thanks for the quick, concise reply, Larry. Based on your post, I plan to dolly-tow my '24 Mav Hyb behind a large Uhaul moving truck up to Montana, leave the rental truck there and drive the Maverick back to Denver. Don't recall the model, but my Maverick is a "plain jane" that I tow 4-down behind a Class A Jayco.

I'll post the results of the trip.......planned for about 30 days from now. It may be overkill/unnecessary but I plan to configure the Mav as if towing it 4-down.

Since the '24 and earlier are only front wheel drive, the rear wheels can spin freely UNLESS the parking brake is on. Look to make sure the Maverick rear wheels are spinning once it's on the dolly and should be fine.

Also, read the instructions- a Uhaul dolly I used said to lock the front steering. I had thought it would "turn better" if the wheels were allowed to turn then saw that would make the side of the car hit the fenders of the dolly at every turn. So I locked the steering!

I didn't think about that when I did mine. I did a large empty parking lot test before leaving and it came close to a fender to fender bump, but didn't. Guess I had it strapped down so hard it couldn't move. Next time I'll lock the steering wheel for sure.

Thx for the steering-lock tip, guys. Also, hadn't thought about the parking lot turning check; sounds like a good plan. Assume this setup will mean "no backing up" ....... like on the RV with its tow bar restriction.

I've been told not to back up because the dolly will get away from you real fast & you'll find yourself in a bad angle unable to get out of. I'm not sure if there is a mechanical reason associated with the car.

Hoping to see more replys about dolly towing a FWD Hybrid. I about to purchase a used 2023 XLT Hybrid, and need to tow it home from about 200 miles away using my 2017 Nissan Frontier using a U-Haul tow dolly.

How do you guys lock the steering wheel? How do you release the parking break?

It's my first Maverick, so any other hints or suggestions about this topic would be great.
