Anyone know how the cover that goes on the top of steering column is supposed to be attached? Looks like it’s designed to attach to something, but both sides are just loose. Potentially the bottom of the dash screw that I have in the picture? Thank you.

Looks like it would be behind the instrument cluster housing itself, probably just a peg since it doesn't look like it tore through.

Probably. Looks more like it was cut like that on purpose for easier installation and not torn. More like it came like that from the factory. No big deal, was just wondering.

I just received my '24 last week like that. It seems the bolts are supposed to go OVER the slits. I am going to reach out to my dealer to see if they can fix it before I do it myself.

Just curious, where did you end up with this? And hope you are enjoying your new truck.

I know this is an old thread.
You've been online as recently as last month so I thought I'd go ahead and ask. Mine is the same way.
"Nemo",
Did you find out anything from Ford or did you go ahead and attach it to that bolt that's shown in your pictures??

Attached to the bolts in the pictures, but then promptly took it out. It added extra creases and now I had two bolt heads staring out at me.

I think they didn’t attach it at the factory to save time. And I’d rather not see the two bolt heads.

...mine is like that too. Really sort of ticks me off to be honest and shows a lot about QC. Not sure...but I think you have to remove the plastic trim for the whole drivers "screen", tuck it behind properly at the corners, then bolt it back into place to actually get the gaps and crap out of the way.

Can somebody with it bolted on correctly from the factory post a picture(s) to sort of show how this all looks? I've seen videos on youtube and reddit posts about/depicting this, haha, I'm 100% sure they're all like this and a design flaw/installation hastle that Ford just lazily decided to skip over from the beginning. You can tell that the slits are for the two bolts and that the shroud has to tuck behind that driver's dash/screen trim to be placed right before bolting it all on.

Probably conflicts with assembly order and directions and got scrapped in favor of just leaving it loose and hanging...

It is installed correctly. That is how mine is and everyone I looked at on the dealers lot after noticing it.

Figures...honestly, it's intended to fasten with the bolts over top, but it looks like Ford abandoned that during assembly. I guarentee that they decided to attach the driver's screen dash bubble in order of assembly before getting to the steering wheel assembly with the shroud, which is when they realized that they messed up. 100% sure after playing around with the clipped-in plastic part holding the shroud, that it needs to tuck up and in behind the dash piece/then bolts/then pop the top clip into place, lmfao.

Really not a big deal...just curious if ANYBODY actually has one that's installed right. This can be another little OCD "character" quirk, like the off center license plate, haha.
