I received my Maverick a year ago and have loved it. Hit 20,000 miles just this morning.

Got rear-ended this afternoon and surely it is totaled. (RIP Blue Bear, you were awesome) The bed is twisted, the gaps on the doors are out of whack, even the top of the cab seems to be tweaked.

The odd thing is that the steering wheel and column literally came off in my hand. The cops and tow trock crews were astonished and none of them had ever see anything like it. The assembly was still attached with the wiring harness and had the electronic functionalities, but it was laying in my lap. When I got out of the Maverick, I could see that ratchet mechanism for adjusting the column was laying on the floor adn seemed to be missing a screw (possibly).

I always liked the way it handles and brakes. I was able to brake very easily in this sudden-stop situation (Dammit Houston traffic), but the guy behind me was in an older Dodge Ram and just plowed into me. I got as close to the driver ahead of me as I was comfortable doing, keeping in mind that I did not want to get pushed into him.

Now on to deal with the insurance companies.

Glad you're OK. Sucks about your new truck. FYI, if you're going to be looking for a replacement, Helfman Ford should be getting a XL, AWD, 4K, CP360, in Iconic Silver, sometime in the next couple of months, if it ever gets scheduled. I had to have a truck before the start of the summer and went ahead and bought a Ranger.

We have two other loops around Houston (Beltway 8 and 99). I typically go wherever Google directs me for the sake of efficiency. After talking to the 5 police officers and 3 tow truck drivers, I will avoid 610 moving forward. Houston driving is pretty insane. I've lived here for 7 years and have also lived in Austin, San Antonio, and DFW. When I travel to those cities, I find the driving to be more laid back in comparison, although they are all getting congested these days.
100% agree. Traffic and drivers in, and around, Houston have gotten ridiculous over the last few years. It seems like a totally different city than it did just 10 years ago.

Any update to this? And comms from Ford? This is disgusting. And the rear end damage is a joke for it to be totalled. Ffs when a guy pulled out in front of my f150 while I was going highway speeds it looked ten times worse and not only didn’t have a missile in my lap in the form of a steering wheel but also had my truck repaired. Nowhere near it needing to be totalled!
