Great tips! Thanks a bunch. I do like the looks of the MX4 and it allows me to have a rail mount rack as well.Yes, I found someone else here on the forum that posted similar problems with this cover (leaking at the folding joints). He posted a bunch of pictures showing where the water was dripping from the middle of the cover on the inside. Others have reported leaks generally along the sides and front edges.
You'll find a bunch of posts that say "all covers leak" yet there are people on here with other covers that have reported no leaking. It seems that the covers that extend over the top of the bed sides are better than the covers that are flush with the bed sides.
I will say that I really like the look and the functionality of this cover. Being able to flip it up and secure it in a partially open position is really nice.
If I were starting over with this cover, I would put thin weather stripping along the left and right inside edges of the bed near the top before installing the cover mounts, ensuring that they press tightly up against the weather stripping pressing it into the sides of the bed. This should help prevent leaks along the sides.
I would seal the ends of the rails/channel of the cover mounts with RTV sealant before installing. I think some of the leaking is due to water entering the channel, and dripping out the ends instead of going down the drain tube.
I would also replace the tiny drain tubing with some that is the same size as the drain hole. It comes with a size reducer and the drain tubing is small enough that I think the water can't drain quick enough.
Also toss the weather stripping that comes with the cover that is supposed to go along the front edge of the bed, and buy some better weather stripping instead. The sticky glue apparently doesn't stick that well because mine was coming loose after a few weeks. I replaced it and that helped a lot, then later I added the RTV sealant.
