Based on what I’ve seen other post, the Truxedo Sentry CT (and probably non-CT).
From what I read, the fact that a bed extender will work with the Sentry CT and it is quick release is why I decided on this model.

Picked up the Gator SFX from Real Truck through Alex. From order to shipping in just a few hours...impressive. Will be here Wednesday.

I'll probably do a short writeup of my thoughts as well.

Would a flush hard cover like the Lomax be less water- and theft-resistant compared to the hard covers that mount above the bed (ex. Gator trio, tonno pro)

All covers are designed to keep as much water as possible out but there is going to be none that are completely watertight, I don't care what claims are made. A cover that does sit on top of bed rails does have more of a chance of keeping water out due to there being fewer areas it can come in on. Regarding theft, a lower profile cover can be a little more difficult for someone to break into but I haven't heard of this being an issue at all when it comes to hard covers

There is no cover that automatically comes with a bike rack on it, unfortunately. There are covers like the Retrax XR models and the Roll-N-Lock XT models that do have a preinstalled t-slot system that allows the addition of a t-slot compatible bike rack. There is also a product made by TruXedo called the Elevate TS rails that works with many flush mount covers wether they are soft roll-ups, hard roll-ups, or hard folding that would allow you to add a compatible t-slot rack system. I don't believe at this moment there are any companies that currently make a bike rack that solely works in conjunction with a tonneau cover without any other accessories needed.

Thanks @Realtruck for contributing to the forum:

What are the cover choices which don't require opening the gate, or resetting the cover when using the gate?

The only covers that dont require you to open the tailgate will be certain retractable covers like Retrax and Roll-N-Lock that have an external locking mechanism. We also had an update within the last year that allows your tailgate to be open and closed with the cover closed

So for covers that don't have this feature, did the tailgate AND cover both need to be opened and closed each time the truck bed was accessed?

I have the BAK X4S. You can open and close the tailgate without touching the cover.
Like most covers, you have to open the tailgate to open the cover. The point is that with your tailgate lock is what protect your contents, since the cover can’t be opened until the tailgate is opened.
Otherwise you need to get one of those covers that roll into the bed, some of those have locks of their own; which are on top of the cover.

@Mabcim is correct, any cover that doesn't have an external lock like the Roll-N-Locks, Retrax, and certain Pace Edward covers will require the tailgate to be opened to open the cover. The cover's security comes from being able to lock your tailgate. If not basically anyone would be able to open your cover at their pleasing. Yes, there could be a way to possibly lock and unlock a hard cover from the outside and be able to open it that way but it would be almost impossible to do on a soft type cover. Plus the cost would go up even further with features like that added in. We try to keep it as simple as possible

I’m at a crossroad in deciding between the Gator Trio Hardfold, and the Tonnopro Hardfold. I like the looks of the Tonnopro since the hinge points aren’t visible. How will that hold up over time? What‘s your thoughts between the two? Thanks for the help!

The main difference is the TonnoPro Hard Fold will have a vinyl layer on top, both are expected to last for awhile
