Greetings! Just found this forum today, thanks for adding me. I've had my 2026 Lariat Maverick for 1 1/2 months now. I traded a 2013 F-150 FX-4 for my Maverick. So far my wife & I absolutely love it! She hated driving the F-150 because of how big n it was. She loves the Maverick so much that in a few months, we'll be ordering her a ruby red hybrid Lariat. Driving a 13 year old truck, I knew we were going to have additional features in the Maverick, but the difference is so vast, I feel like we were driving Fred Flintstone's car in comparison to what we have now 🤣. My Maverick is Shadow black, but I've added the red tailgate.lettering, and will be adding more red trim soon.. So far, I've added mudflaps (front & rear), in-channel rain reflectors on all four doors, and of course a soft tonneau cover (had that added at the dealership). We were planning on downsizing eventually, since my kids are grown & out of the house, but my old truck accelerated our time line by throwing some check engine codes at us. Since we only have one vehicle, and my commute to work is 56 miles one way, we figured we'd be better off getting a new vehicle sooner, rather than later. We were considering other similar size trucks like the Colorado, Santa Cruz, Ridgeline, etc. None of those could give us the features for price the Maverick did, at least not where we live. That's fine, though, because, as I stated, we ā¤ our Maverick. I didn't realize they were as popular as they are, either. Since I've had mine, numerous people, coworkers, friends, a few acquaintances have asked me how I like it, and said they were looking at them and possibly considering buying one. And some of those people weren't what I'd call 'small truck people' 🤣. Anyway, if you made it this far, thank you for reading this. I'm looking forward to getting some ideas and knowledge from this forum, and if possible, maybe helping or inspiring someone else.

Welcome to the club. The tradition of requesting pics continues. Is the wife also thinking about the EB?
Thanks! She pretty much has her heart set on the hybrid. And truth be told, if my car dealer would've had a hybrid on the lot the day we got mine, I would've gone with that, regardless of the trim package myself. As it is, I think after we get her hybrid and drive it for a few months, I 'might' trade my EB in for a hybrid as well, simply because I'm putting 112 miles a day on it simply going back and forth to work. On the picture request, I'll post some next weekend most likely. I want to wait until Amazon delivers my most recent upgrades order 🤣🤣🤣🤣

If your commute is mainly highway keep the EB. I just did a 600 + trip with my EB.
Ford Maverick Thoughts about my Maverick 1 1/2 months in trip2

I used to drive about the same as you before I retired. 2 years in a Equinox getting 31 mpg. 1 year in a Silverado at 18 mpg. Had 32k on it after 1 year. A year after retirement I realized climbing up into a truck sucks. Me and my GF, who is 8 years older, like the egress of the Maverick. And it's comfy cozy for us.

Hello and welcome to MTC. Congratulations on your Maverick. Sounds or reads you are like the majority here on the site enjoying their Mavericks. I personally think even if dirty to post pictures of you truck. Then post or start another thread, with pictures, from before and after you get whatever you are waiting for from Amazon.

Hope your wife enjoys her new Maverick as well. I would highly recommend babytruk post. Not much city driving in ND and a long way between towns not the best for hybrids. Next because you are retiring and going from one vehicle to 2 trucks, it may sit awhile. That's not the best scenario for a hybrid and highly recommend reading and possibly looking at a battery maintainer to eliminate that deep sleep mode which has several posts on this site. Lastly if she doesn't drive a lot it will take years of fuel savings to make up the initial difference of 1500 for the hybrid. Even though HWY mpg is very close in fuel economy I figured 10 mpg difference and gas at 4 dollars a gallon when I ordered my truck. At 5000 miles a year it would take 9.5 years to make up the 1500 investment. If I got in an accident I would never be able to make up the difference or I wouldn't stare saving at the pump tell after 9.5 years. Another is the extra expense in maintenance down the road oil, batteries for examples. Lastly I drive a lot of 2 lane highway or roads to be frank I need the 250 hp and 277 ft lbs of torque not just for entering but passing. Also off road or heavy snow because not having a 2 speed transfer case the 277 ft lbs of torque at only 3000 rpm on the AWD I saw as a necessity.

Either way whatever she decides on, I hope she enjoys her new Maverick.

Very similar story. 2015 F150 with 282K miles on it and throwing turbo codes that indicated basically it was wearing out. Search for used F150 Lariats but only things under 50K were 50-70K miles and 4-5 years old. Then I discovered the Maverick. It does 95% of what I want a truck to do mow that I am older. Half the cost of a new F150 and considerably less than a used F150. I got the Lariat 4k towing package and I am happy as can be. All the talk of how the EB outperforms the Hybrid on here, well I don't care, my hybrid acerbates just fine for normal driving and I get 35-40 mph. Lover the copilot360 stuff and the interior I =don't think is as crappy as people say. Mines pretty sharp looking. Sofar loving this little truck.

We're loving 99% of this little truck. And the things we don't like are basically just convenience things, like the driver seat two position memory, front passenger seat adjustment mechanics, and the placement of the auto on/off & traction control buttons, basically first world problems 🤣. If those are the biggest issues we have with the Maverick, then we consider ourselves blessed to have such a fun little truck. After 24 years of driving F-150s, getting used to the smaller size has been interesting, , though šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤£

Thank you for some very interesting, and useful, food for thought! I shared your reply with my wife, and she's more open to going with the EB now LOL. Your reply is exactly the sort of reply I was hoping for when I applied to join this forum, getting answers to questions I'm not even aware I should be asking, yet 🤣🤣🤣. I think my wife will enjoy hers when we get it, as she volunteers to drive the one we have now, and the last time she did that was when she had her Focus back in 2002 🤣.

Congrats on your new Mav!

I picked up my Lariat Hybrid Wednesday 1 July. My wife was skeptical at first, but now that we've had a few days to drive and ride around in our new truck, just like your wife, she loves our new Mav! It's comfortable, quiet, and easy to climb in and out of. So far - we've only racked up 98 miles mind you - driving around in town and out on the highway the average mileage has been just shy of 32 mpg.

I think your wife will enjoy the hybrid, especially in Ruby Red. And if you're willing to wait, the special ordering process could not have been any easier, at least with our dealership. Can't wait to see photos of your two Mavericks side-by-side... cheers!

p.s. - just thoroughly read the post by @Hunters Edge, who makes a couple of very good points. Hybrids don't like to sit for any length of time, also, if most of your miles are highway or open road miles an EB drivetrain makes more sense.

You said:

Over the last 4 Decades trucks got bloated big time. I’m not talking about contractors work trucks I’m talking about we the people, the home owners.
Most of that was the simple, ā€˜Look at me I’m bad in my big bad truck’
Bigger trucks sell.

Same thing with the SUV which was the final format to get people to buy station wagons. Simple formula,
Chop off both ends, easier to park.
Jack it up taller so people could feel important and they sell like hot cakes.

Then came the Maverick pick up truck.
Fits in a garage with room for toys.
Good gas mileage.
Rides like a big car,
Loaded with toyz.
Cheaper than everything else,

Just remember, get gap insurance because these wonderful little trucks are delicate like grandma’s China.
They are unibodies.
I totaled my 2024 and did absolutely no paint or skin damage. Bambi went into the radiator.

60 mph, bent the unibody, Pepper got killed by a 150 pound deer.
Then my full replacement policy add on, ($60 per year) got me ā€˜Thor’
Ford Maverick Thoughts about my Maverick 1 1/2 months in IMG_2664

I got over losing Pepper in three miles.
GAP on my 2026 Tremor cost me $90 a year.
You can bet your sweet bippy I added it.

As soon as I see Minot, I think B52s. Minot was the destination of choice for married guys coming out of USAF Navigator school. A stable life for the family.

I was gonna suggest waiting on trading for a hybrid, thinking you might see how the Ford UEV is. But when I saw Minot, I thought "nah, 30 below zero and a deep frozen battery", and that was the end of suggesting a BEV.

I love my hybrid but I’m sure I’d feel the same about an EB. Your wife doesn’t follow you to work so hybrid may give you two the option of having the right truck for the right day. Having both would be cool! My step-Son lives in ND (also has lived in a couple places in SD) and although the speed limits are very high, he finds himself on a lot of rural roads.
EDIT: The Dakotas get some pretty warm weather (like right now), but also just plain nasty cold periods in the winter. My life fits the Hybrid, but if you search around the MTC you will see that the Hybrid in very cold weather does not crush the MPGs.
