The last time I bought a new car was back in Dec 2005. The timing could not have been better for me to get a new vehicle. Fall can't get here fast enough

It was a 2006 Ford Fusion. Good little car that was.Same. Well, 2003. We typically buy nice used cars to eliminate most depreciation. With the used car prices being what they are now though, hubby and I just said “screw it, let’s buy a new car…” After looking for a while this came out and it’s pretty perfect for our needs. Can’t wait either!
What was your new car in 2005?
I am driving a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT with 294,000 miles. Planned to upgrade after 2010, but Rangers went away. I didn't care for the new ones, plus I down sized from a three car oversized garage to a townhome. All the mid-sized trucks would barely fit. I've been waiting for a truck that will fit in my garage (the 2002 Ranger fits). Submitted my order for the Maverick on the morning of June 8th.The last time I bought a new car was back in Dec 2005. Extricating it was like playing that peg game on the tables at Cracker Barrel. I felt a brief twinge of guilt, but muddled through.
Remember when paying MSRP was a ludicrous proposition? When dealer-installed equipment was for suckers?
Well, I wish I would have also kept their ADM sticker to remember the good ole’ days. ‘Cause when we got back from our test drive, I handed the salesman that markup sticker and said something about saving time by agreeing that they couldn’t have possibly been serious with that nonsense.
It was seriously one of those awesome ‘Wait, what?’ moments.
I almost felt bad about that night, but years of car shopping with my Dad from a young age taught me that you’re not getting a good deal unless they cry a little.
Pretty sure they passed a hat around after hearing me nonchalantly (but loudly) mention how we didn’t have kids and nowhere to be.
Suddenly, this sticker…
