I do admit at first I hated politics of these threads. But, since I'm starting to not give a s*** about most things I've actually enjoyed reading them. Very interesting the back and forth. I do admit I agree with one side more than the other, but I'm not going to tell you which way I lean.

He's trolling. Or maybe not. Look at where they are from. TDS runs rampant there.

Bottom line, the truth is he is an American Citizen, with a TS security clearance, working at the behest of the executive branch, and extension, the American people. Over 50% (popular vote) voted for this. This is not new or a surprise.

We are at the brink of going bankrupt with $36+ Trillion in debt. The past is past. Both parties contributed to the debt. However, now, we finally have an administration willing to take drastic measures in an attempt to tackle this crisis. If it doesn't work, then we find other solutions. We just can't go back to how the past 4 years was ran. And we must support the current administration and hope it succeeds. For everyone's sake.
TDS?
Check your 50% number because that's an "alternative fact" AKA wrong / lie.

We have data of Trump's first term where tariffs invigorated the steel/material industry, created thousands of jobs, and was part of the reason our economy was flourishing with historically low interest rates across the board. Then... COVID happened.

I, along with many of you on here, flourished during his first 3 years. My 2nd home was attainable then financially, but compared to now, absolutely not.

Regarding Tariffs proven to have caused recessions and economic downfalls. One simple question to you all - if tariffs are so bad, then why do over 100s countries implement tariffs on Americans? Look at the long list that the White House published on the % of tariffs implemented on Americans compared to what we charge them. Is it fair? I am not going to sit here and pretend I am an economist, but I do know that just by looking at the numbers and %, we have been treated unfairly.

For the many who do not agree, please provide some insights on how we solve our current economic problems. Are you telling me we should revert back to what the previous administration did, just continue on and hope things get ironed out?
Having been born and raised in the Bay Area of CA over 40 years ago. First generation American Citizen. I knew what the Democratic Party stood for back then. Boy, has the party gone extreme. I did not leave the Democratic party., The Democratic party left me. CA has turned to $h!*, is broke, and don't get me started on immigration, and I come from a family of immigrants.

What did I read earlier - "Brainwashed" and "Daddy syndrome" or whatever... Okay kid, like my personal experience with your party hasn't guided me to where I lean now.

To everyone on here. This thread is a perfect example of how divisive one side gets. And it is easy to see which side it is.
MY PARTY...LMAO. I don't join cults or parties or get my news from one source. Insults are nice thank you again! I'm done here. You finished just how you started.

Stop believing the lies.

It's hard to have a two party system when one party blindly follows their Dear Leader and no longer cares about truth, facts, and the Constitution.

He is literally extorting law firms. Just because his crimes are out in the open and no one can prosecute him doesn't mean he's not criminally abusing our democracy for his personal power and wealth.

How long can an EV keep the heat on if you need to utilize it in a blizzard, and stuck scenario?

Hours?

A day?

Stuck at camp and the power goes out, and there is no cell service?

Leaving Key West in a hurricane?

I can get almost 600 miles on a tank, and 400 more with two Jerry cans.

All these hypotheticals presume that your gas tank starts full, which isn't very likely... whereas the EV will almost always have a full tank when you start out. EVs can keep the heat on a VERY long time in an idle scenario as the power difference of propelling several tons of metal at 70MPH for hours at a time is FAR FAR FAR greater than powering a few hundred watts of heating coils. Whereas the ICE vehicle is burning substantial amounts of fuel just idling unless you shut it off completely... which means no HVAC.

When politicians decide they do not need income tax rates and tariffs for political issues to run on and when the people demand relief, a national sales tax could be initiated and all the rest of taxes dropped. Last I read, a 3% national sales tax, excluding on food, would cover the present inflated budget and would actually provide revenue to start paying down the debt. Just too damn simple!!

Tariffs are just another hidden tax and have the potential to destroy the global economy.

Ford is "lucky" to have one of the largest inventories of vehicles at the moment. The employee price offer recognizes this as well as the possibility that with increased inflation and decrease in value of 401K's and IRA's, people will not just be running out to buy a vehicle in inventory even though the price will soon skyrocket on future vehicles.

Jeep just announced closing a plant in Mexico and a plant in Canada and laying off 900 employees in the U.S. And so it begins..............................

A lot of us will just enjoy the Mavericks we have and delay purchase of a newer one. Kind of like the song: "Love the one you are with"!!!!!!:)

Well an old southern saying may apply to this whole "Liberation Day for America" thing. It is: Just hide and watch!!!! Problem is the average American cannot hide from the effects..................

Yes, fingers crossed my vehicles don't get totaled out while this is going on.

The whole thing is bizarre, eventually I expect countries will cave and we'll at least try to be on a level playing field but if not I really hope moves are made to bring production back here. I don't care if I pay more for a vehicle personally if it means massive reinvestment in small town middle America again.

ummmmm... no... becuase Bronco Sport and Maverick aren't produced anywhere else... and Maverick is outselling the Ranger by a fair degree ...

Ford will wait to see if Maverick sales are effected by higher price before making any plans to bring production to the USA.

I was laid off as an airframe mechanic 2 years into my career in 2008 in the wake of the financial crisis created by insanely greedy banks , working for basically a slave salary at a super MAGA bank services company for most of Trump's first term, and probably going to be laid off again here shortly as sales implode at my current position. The only good years of my life have been during the rebuilding years after catastrophes, but there is not, and never has been any universal American experience.

For the record, I don't think either party is completely serious about tackling the major issues our country is facing.
No will

China's BYD MOTORS will move right in when we leave. They actually have a real good truck and EVs. Already being sold in Mexico and Australia. Not allowed in US. That truck would kill here.

When you say that truck would kill here do you mean it in the sense of sales, like it would dominate sales? Or do you mean that the way it's built if people got into an accident they'd be killed because it doesn't meet our safety standards?

It is so difficult to explain the work force...I have been fortunate to travel to Asia and see the population's cost of living there is so low we cannot compete using US workers. Brother-in-law's company (largest computer hard disk company in the world) was loosing their shirt manufacturing hard disks inside the USA and competing with Chinese factories. Moved robots and assembly line to South East Asia. 100 non-skilled Asian employees ran the factory, automation did the actual manufacturing with US supervision...totally non-skilled workers. In the US (Arizona) factory they were having to pay health insurance, benefits, retirement, vacation time, 34% benefits, employee taxes, etc. etc. Maybe it is cruel, not to those Asian workers, but the largest hard disk manufacturer was able to survive...and compete is a brutally competitive market.
