I did the same with the packages but opted for the Falken Wildpeaks and Alloy wheels. Snow up here in PA is a beast some winters. Needed beefier tires.
I did the same
Got the Wildpeak trails and so far I am very pleased
Wish I could have gotten the wildpeaks oem, but I wanted the black wheels more. I can always replace the tires.
I've already got an appointment at my local discount tire for Monday to get some crossclimate2 tires. They are rated higher than the wildpeaks in most categories, but I probably will lose all semblance of off road performance.

Was actually looking at the wildpeak at3/w that just came out, supposed to be a step above the regular wild peaks and is severe snow rated

I legit only got FX4 specifically for the wheels and the 6.5-inch screen, I love more technology where I sit in the cabin the most so it was worth it to me. The shocks are a nice addition too, and I like the look of having tow hooks too.

Those are the ones that I am referring to.
They look like great tires to me, but I can't find any good test information for them.
Specifically I like the ratings on tirerack.
Also the aggressive look of the tires is really tempting as well. Basically I would be comparing them to the standard KO2 tires that it seems like most people get on trucks.
I have been back and forth between these 3 choices a lot in the last couple of months and just think that the crossclimate2 tires fit my use case better (even if they are kinda ugly)

Gotcha, let me know how you like them as I may be looking to just see if I can have one of the tire places buy the oem’s off of me for credit towards a more off road focused tire

Not going to lie, the appearance played a part in my decision and they look badass

You talking about the driving sports TV review by chance? If so, at least to me it seemed that some of the extra modes that come with the fx4 were a little more aggressive in distributing power than the regular AWD mode, but could just be my imagination. In any case, just the fact as somebody mentioned already, that Ford will possibly void my warranty if I take a non fx4 off road is enough for me for the package to be worth it as i would like to be able to explore some forest roads that I otherwise can’t in my current vehicle which is way too low to the ground to consider driving it anywhere other than regular streets and the race track

Who said anything about telling them where I was driving? I’m talking maintained forest roads as far as off-roading goes.

The only downside is losing the Sport and Eco modes.

For $800 it seemed like a great deal for me.
I have the Bronco Sport with the tow package and 4 wheel drive and I have all seven modes, so I don't understand why they turned Sport and Eco off on the Maverick.

Its funny, some people here must be such city dwellers they have no clue what other areas of the country are like. In my situation my gravel driveway is so steep most guests park at the base of the driveway and walk to my house, and thats not even in winter with snow on the ground.
AWD and Off Road is a way of life. I'll take the extra ground clearance, traction, and undercarrage protection any day. But each persons situation is different.

Yeah if the modes are scrolled through by pushing a button, it seems that all necessary equipment is there and is disabled in the firmware.

Ford probably would have sold more FX4 packages if they had enabled all modes.

If Sync is turned on you are already telling Ford where you are and what you are doing.
