You don't have to be so cruel about it. Not everyone has that "Just get over it" philosophy. Also, not everyone uses their trucks for their intended purposes. Some may want to keep it pristine not to show off to others, but just for their own sakes. Or they can still utilize it while taking care of it at the same time. It's possible. They take pride in what they own and enjoy taking care of it. Keeping it pristine forever is literally impossible and getting the first scratches or dents is always hurtful no matter if you obsess over it or not. Just telling someone to "get over it" twice comes off as rude and rotten.
You are welcome, I drive a dirt road 10 times a month, have put 14, 000 miles on truck in 9 months, washed it a month ago the bed is full of truck stuff, the cheap dish floor mats are full of sand and gravel. I used to baby vehicles but realized that it didn't matter. Opinions are like elbows, everyone has a couple.

So I mentioned awhile back how the last 4-5 cars we've owned have all been scratched and/or dented in a Walmart parking lot. I don't know why it's so common, I try to park away from people, but it's like the bad luck follows me 😂.

I've included a few examples below, one that's on our explorer that's very bad, and clearly deliberate imo. It's a little hard to see in the pic, so I marked the begging and end with red lines. Then our maverick, which was scratched today. Compared to the explorer, it's mild, it looks like it only took off the clear coat and you don't really notice it until you get close, about 2-3 ft from the truck, but it's still annoying.

I wish more people in society were raised right. Of the 5 times this has happened, I've never once had someone leave money, or insurance information, or even wait around to apologize.

It can happen anywhere but I avoid (as do others) walmart at the 3rd of the month and a few days after. It is especially crazy

I resent that remark! Not everybody is a scumbag and would run from an accident. I would leave my info to contact me if I'd ever did that. Never have and hope to never have to.
Nooooooooo!!! :ROFLMAO:

People only do the right thing under two circumstances. One, it is advantageous for them. Second, it is advantageous for them.
I'll tell you what. I saw one recently where I was SUPER surprised to see someone leave a business card with a note after totally nailing someone in a "park and ride" public transit parking garage.

I got off the bus and was headed to my Maverick. In the distance I see a truck with the entire font bumper on the ground and some broken shards of headlight. I was sure it was mine, as it was about in the right spot and I had backed in. My heart dropped. As I got closer, I saw it was not mine, but a nice ranger that was parked 2 spots from me. Someone had somehow managed to totally rip off his bumper. I was nosy, so went closer to check it out. Business card under the wiper blade that said "My car rolled into your truck, sorry". I laughed, as there was no way that was the result of a free rolling vehicle collision. But at least they left their info. Business card was for someone who works for the Seattle Department of Transportation. Ohh the irony.....

not only that, it's a effin' truck, for crying out loud, an inexpensive one at that. makes me laugh when people treat/think it's a Ferrari.
I would care less about the Ferrari, what an absolutely pointless vehicle.

I have been fender bombed:
-in front of my house
-in a downtown ATL parking lot
-in the old K-Mart parking lot
-In the Kaiser Parking lot
That I can remember. No notes, one drove into the side of the bed, put it in R, backed away and drove off. The KP parking lot someone backed into the rear bumper after I stopped backing out of my spot and they were ignoring me. I beeped, but they kept coming. Twisted the bumper.
Other two were when I was sleeping or work.
Several years ago, wife came home from Walmart(I think) and both CV axle boots had been slit. She didn't know a thing about it. They were not torn or split, they were cut. I guess because it was an older (87) vehicle, splitting the boots would get it off the road. Maybe.
All I know beyond that is that I get to pay for repairs, and with the Mav, I park 'OUT' more than ever. I get to walk and that's not bad for me anyway. Maybe it will make it for a while w/o getting dented.

You're correct: humans suck. I've been on this planet for several years and have met very few humans I care for. However, I've discovered that dogs are wonderful and are the only species we've informed of our presence. My ship will be retrieving all of us in a mextar (about 27 months earth time). I'm hoping there's enough room on it to take my Maverick.

The trick is to part in an empty area at the end of the row where one side of the spot is a curb. Park with your tires practically scraping the curb, that way you have the maximum distance between your car and the next guy.
I have a handicap sticker which has saved my last car and hopefully this truck..except there are rarely any handicap spots

Walmart is on my no fly list
Spend more money on food elsewhere. It is worth not dealing with the crowds that visit Walmart.

Crowds suck no matter where, I get 90% my groceries delivered from Aldi, beef from a local butcher.

Though you're right that crowds can suck anywhere, there's something about a level of "I'm getting mine and I don't care about anyone else" with Walmart crowds. I'm good. I shop at local places for fruits, veggies, and meats. For the off chance I can't order it online or buy locally, I go during less busy hours. Less likely to run into situations where people just arbitrarily hit your car and leave.

Yeah, all legitimate feelings, people can indeed be jackasses.

Coming from a person who can obsess and over analyze. Often things have a less sinister origin. Often it's grossly negligent, but not as sinister. Either way, it's best mentally for you to move past it as fast as possible and the latter is better for that.

Eg. Wife's van had a ding in the rear fender. My mental process "this had to take some force... who the hell cares so little for other people's things to just fling a door open... People suck" but heh life happens. Fast forward a month or so and another ding in the same spot. 🤔 open the rear door of my car in the garage and it lines up.
- my kids are still small, they struggle to get my sticky hinged back door open
- they struggle to control the door as the heavy spring moves it to the first detent.
Talk with my kids about it who still very much want to please their parents and try hard. They say sorry and promise to do better. Fast forward a few months and there are now like 4-5 dings. I've literally watched my 7yo do it while trying but unable to fully control the damn door. Funny how my brain first went to the horrible person scenario 🤷‍♂️

Parking lots aren't going away, or rocks at speed, etc. We need to find a better material for the exterior of our cars. My Saturn was amazing for this, not sure why that wasn't more successful. Even when it does get dinged or scratched you don't have to worry about rust.
Better late than never. Bought a new Saturn and owned it over 15 years and sold it at 300k miles. Mart a scratch, dent or rust mark on the body. But replaced three windshields due to chips/cracks.

The Maverick is now at just 20k and has numerous paint chips, scratches and one small dent from an unknown source.
