You may have something there, If they just owned up to being a bolt on piece you could give it the bushwacker treatment and just fake rivets and black textured plastic. Maybe some diamond plate look.

I remember a thread, about a year ago on this. Several owners figured out it was the plastic alignment pins at the top of the windshield, located along the top edge of the roof, I think they are mounted to the roof skin and assist with aligning the windshield during assembly.

As I recall it was quite a task to not only get to them but also remove them and eliminate their rubbing on the glass causing the offending rattle people had.

This one sounds like it’s non-metallic & is a few inches to right if the dome light/sun glass holder panel. I can “thump” the headliner with my hand & clearly hear it. I’ve removed the panel as well as both sunvisors. It’s still there.
i really like this truck for my current needs. Have a 25 ordered just like it, but if I can get this rattle stopped, I’d rather keep this one. (Old timer who likes knobs & buttons for radio & HVAC).

While yer at it put on some of those big chrome tips like from the 50s cars. Or some hard points for a snow plow or tow hooks. Swap those air intakes (?) on the bottom.

If any hybrid truck the size of the Maverick listed at the first year production price of 19,999 and 23 out the door with my options was ugly or uglier than the 25 I would have still bought it. At 27 to 40 thousand I will pass.

If people really hate it just get some painters tape and tape that area off, then spray it with a matte black. Or better yet a peelable rubber coating which makes whatever you do reversable.
