The little light

Our 23 Xlt like most has a rear facing light on the roof. We have a window that when I am sitting doing something I don't need to describe, allows me to see our truck from the rear. Last night there was a tiny red light in that group of lights shining. An LED I'm sure. Tonight it is not on. Both nights the car is locked and alarmed.

Why does that light shine sometimes and not others? Is it telling us that someone touched the car, maybe check the door handles to see if it was unlocked?

I believe it's designed to illuminate the bed specifically for unloading at night and stuff like that. So hit the key, bed-light goes on.

You should not be doing that in the window. Close the shades.

I think it might be better to imply what is happening than to show it.

Sometimes dealers forget to remove their alarms in place before delivery or maybe someone is just checking out their laser sights because of people doing weird stuff in their window.

I had to read your post 3 times to finally understand that you are sitting inside your house and you are looking through a window from inside the house to the outside of your house and from this view, you can see the rear of your truck.

I thought you were sitting inside your truck, doing something that you didn't want to disclose and was seeing red lights............................

Golly, I thought that cluster had only the high-mount stop and white bed lamp (NO small red LEDs). I've observed what you describe at times when a light source refracts & reflects thru the plastic lens at just the right angle and makes it appear to be on. I wonder if this might be what happened in your case.

That is on my list of possibilities also. i have seen that happen with the taillights when the sun h its the lens just right. But this was at night. There is a street light overhead. If someone has unscrewed the lens and knows there is no small rear facing led, then case closed. But it sure looked like a shining small red led.

It's a camera.

The only camera I have is in the tailgate area that comes on when in reverse. Also, while the neighborhood lighting has a consistent nature, I saw this light on one night but I did not, for example see it last night.

The red light emitted a small red, bright light in the middle of the light group above the rear window.
