This is my first car that syncs my phone. The ford tech synced it for me, but that seemed simple enough. Now I'm in the weeds of using it and wondering if there's any way to change the voice that reads the messages. I find that I just don't like it. Even things as simple as a grocery list are not really clear. Can the voice be changed. I really think its just the tone of the voice that annoys me more than anything else. I've searched high and low and it seems asking here is next. thx

I do not believe you can change the voice.

PF, are you using Android or an I-Phone? If Android, you could try changng the voice of Google Assistant to see if that would change the voice that reads your texts.

On my phone I go to setting > Google Service and Preferences > All Services > Search Assistant and Voice > Google Assistant > Assistant Voice & Sound" > Assistant Voice.

They label the voices as colors, but each is a different voice. I think "Red" is the default female voice. Blue is a male voice. Lots of different options.

I'm not sure this will change the voice that reads your texts, but it's possible as Android Auto uses Assistant.

If you use an I-Phone, I can't help.

Good luck! :)

I’d pick
‘Natasha Fatale’
From the 1960s animated series Rocky and Bullwinkle.

She was like,,,, ‘Dahling’

The voice is from Google Not from Ford.
But yes, there could be way better voices and I‘m sure by the time this thread fades into the back of some server in the world, you will have the answer, then we can all have Lenard Nemoys voice or perhaps bugs bunny reading our texts.

I changed the voice on my i phone. Go to SETTINGS then select Siri Go to VOICE. I selected AMERICAN. Then scroll down and select one of the 5 voices. Voice 1 is a males voice.
Same for my WAZE navigation app. I went into the app to change my vehicles icon from an arrow to a truck.

The speech synthesizer is the least of my concerns. The infotainment system in my '23 XLT does not handle RCS messages to my phone AT ALL. SMS works fine but is rare among my friends. Because of this, I find the phone-related features in my Mav to be worse than useless. This flaw has caused me to miss multiple important messages in the last 2 years. Is this just meeeee?

If it's not working well for you, you can turn off RCS in Android phones. Go to Google Messages app Settings. Tap RCS and turn it off.

Yes, I know. I tested and found that SMS does not suffer from this problem, so it could easily be an Android software architecture issue (my phone is running Android 11, latest is 14). RCS does offer some advantages I find useful at other times so I don't really want to shut it off, and changing that setting in my phone every time I get in the truck is impractical. I can't imagine I'm the only person with this problem, but nobody else seems to be griping about it. Hmmmm... have you tested getting RCS messages on the basic infotainment system? If it works for you, what version of Android are you running?

I agree with you Mr. Geek but I find the whole infotainment system inferior and frustrating. It is almost a deal breaker, being that it is one of the functions I use whenever I drive. I have seriously considered trading it off because of the frustration.

RCS messages work thru the infotainment center when using Android Auto, at least thru Sync 3?

Is that different with the other system (sync 2.5?) or when using an I-Phone and Car Play?

I agree, pairing the phone directly to the vehicle does leave an awful lot to be desired.
