If they are imposed and they stick then yes prices will be affected. How much? How badly? No one can say but they will be affected.

We'll all share the wealth, I'm sure of it. Not a hostile gesture at all.

Also, inb4 lock.
dont see why it would be locked, I mean its literally tomorrow tonight it goes in affect if it will. I say let this thread roll, and let the people clamor on it. it's a serious issue regarding our vehicle and prices

Ford should build here instead of Mexico. After all the money they got from tax payers this is the least they can do. I mean, selling a top trim Mav for 50k is not justifying moving the production to Mexico

I watched an Autoline After Hours yesterday, where they spent a half hour on tariffs. It's a freaky situation. We're all speculating the day before the announcement. The devil is in the details. MTC will be filled with "tariff" threads come this weekend and next week.

  • Declaring tariffs is not the same as implementing tariffs. There is a multi-week delay
  • they can be general or targeted - maybe Ford gets a pass if they commit to moving the factory to the USA in two years, for example.
  • specific waivers can be granted - this is very typical of tariffs
  • they can affect parts too - so we shouldn't be smug that we already have our Mavericks in hand
  • They're really a tax. Nobody but the consumer eats tariffs Especially on inexpensive products with low margin.
  • They're usually ineffectual unless they're accompanied by investment incentives to move production to the USA. Otherwise, manufacturers will "sit it out". Four years is nothing in the auto industry - it is six years just to design and deliver a new design.

(please don't let me turn this tariff thread into a Santa Cruz thread - not my intent)

I have a tentative plan if there is a 25% markup on new Mavericks. I will grab the increased resale value on my 2022, run down to the Hyundai dealer, and get a loaded Santa Cruz limited. Because the SC is built in Alabama. And because I'm one of the few members on MTC who doesn't vomit and convulse when a Santa Cruz drives past. And because I have driven the 2025 Santa Cruz and I felt (polarizing styling and no hybrids aside) that it is a superior vehicle to my ecoboost Maverick (which I still like plenty).

Alternative plan - I might accept the huge hit to my wallet and lease the new Rivian R1T.

I agree, it is a serious issue of which most people have no capacity to see the implications of, including the ones implementing it.

Because it's politics and this is a site about Mavericks not the politics that affect Mavericks (and all vehicles).

We all recognize tariffs are coming and will have an impact on price. No need to discuss further and delve in the cesspool of political banter.

we really need a dedicated thread - non political.

Price you agreed upon, and price dealership tries to have you pay due to tariffs If they attempt to surcharge/claim tariffs. we need to know for current and prospective buyers and even us with price agreed on orders.

im very curious on those who try to hike up prices, and by how much.

I will enjoy that as much as OTD prices people post on their vehicles and them negotiating.

Farley is not worried why should we ?

Ford CEO: Trump's tariff threat 'will play out over the next couple months'

Farley believes Ford is set up the best among its competitors if tariffs come to pass because of its large presence in the US.

“Ford has the largest US manufacturing footprint," he said. "And so we're really encouraged about the administration's positive outlook on the auto industry and the impact on our overall economy."

Cheers

@Administrator - Let's go ahead and lock this thing down.
Party pooper :ROFLMAO:

At least we know one thing, price increases are associated with tariffs. That's how everyone feels and it shows. The details are the scary part because it all seems like empty cold war threats and the ones paying for it are us, the ones in confusion and debate over it. More taxes are certainly an option, I guess.

Maybe the Maverick will just get another $200 markup across the board because it's business, and businesses can't operate without price increases on a quarterly basis despite what profit margins show and where said profits actually go.

Still open? I'm rolling with it.

Almost lost my :poop: at "positive outlook on the auto industry" though. Pretty funny stuff.

My intention has nothing to do with politics. It has everything to do with economics and trade.

Then we don't need a thread we just need to continue to track OTD pirices.

There is just no need to discuss this because people can't help themselves and it will devolve into political bullshit.
