Hello,

My hybrid Maverick is arriving next week, so I should be taking delivery most likely by the end of the week, I have a few questions:-

1- Are there any promos of special finance rates? with Mach E, the rate was the same as when you ordered the car, is that still the same?
2- I have X-Plan so will use that, I also have FordPass rewards from my previous purchases 84000 points, can I use these with the down payment?
3- Can you use X-Plan with the Farmer's Bureau $500 rebate?
4- I removed the spray-in bedliner, so I will add that, do I let the dealer do it or do it somewhere else? I am in San Diego, what's usually the cost of spray-in bed liner?
5- Rain resistant bed cover, what are my options? I don't want to spend big $$$ just something for that one or two times per year when it's raining and I may have luggage or something else carrying, should I get that from Ford as well or not?

Thanks.

1. No, not really. 7% is the lowest ford rate i believe on the maverick

2. I believe you can use PassPoints as payment, but dont quote that.

3. No

4. I would suggest going to a LineX company, not the dealer

5. Not entirely sure there. Many seem to leak a bit

If that's the going finance rate for the Maverick right now, I'd leave it on the lot. You buying a truck or a dang house? Funk that. For my '22 my percentage rate was 1.9%. Ain't no way I'd buy a truck at 7%!

I can't really help with your questions but I do have some recommendations/suggestions that may save you some frustrations and headaches when you go pick up your new Maverick.

I would ask them to please don't drill the front license plate at the front, unless you don't mind. Second, I would ask them not to "detail" or wash your new truck. Most dealers do a horrible job and actually scratch your paint or leave a ton of swirl marks that you will have to deal with later. Third, ask them not to touch the interior. It is better if "you" take off the protection plastics. These trucks interiors scratch like no other car I have ever owned. Fourth, ask them not to use your new truck for others to test drive. It should have less than 20 miles when you go pick her up. And lastly, take plenty of time inspecting your truck (preferably during daylight, not in the evening). Check for body gaps, paint imperfections, dents, scratches, etc. Check the roof as well. These truck have a lot of plastic trim on the outside, they get easily scuffed or scratched. Check the interior carefully. Check to make sure everything works as it should, such as AC, radior, power seats etc.

The dealer may push back on some of these requests but it is your truck and you will be happy in the end.

Congratulations and I hope these tips will help you with your buying experience.

Best rate my wife and I qualified for was 5.5% at local CU a couple months ago. That’s with both credit scores in 800s.

Interest rates are high now, they have 1.9% back I know on select cars but wasn't sure if Maverick qualifies.

Thanks for the tips, this is not my first car from this dealer so they do a great job with everything, they never attach the front plate and the quality of their carwash is great , I'll inspect for panel gaps.

Finance rates absolutely SUCK right now, the Maverick in high demand has NO discount financing or deals, sorry. I'm at just over 7%, and my brother is the dealership's A-Tech.

For X-Plan & Farmers, sometimes depends on the dealer. I've heard of the Farmers being combined with D-Plan/A-Plan, so I'd expect it to be similar, but still 'iffy'. - Most are not allowing it.

Shop the Line-X, there's different pricing between installers. My dealer refers that out to a local shop, which can do it cheaper. - I opted for the Ford's SIBL, but was also a rollover, and D-Plan pricing.

There are some nice soft roll-up & tri-fold covers in the $200-$300 range. How leak-free depends in part on how it's installed. There's a channel created in the top cladding, however, some provide stripping that molds down into it, other's don't, and a little black caulk or RTV will take care of leaking. - Use TWO layers of foam seal at the bulkhead, one usually doesn't keep it weather tight. Even my retracting cover had to be slid back, and a second layer applied, and now that area is leak free. (Actually I'm 100% or close to 100%, after adding double weather stripping along the tailgate, both on the tailgate, and on the body of the truck, which is the next most likely place for moisture to enter). Installation is the biggest determining factor on how weather tight the cover will ultimately be.

I'm a little overly OCD, and even laid down some thick outdoor foot wipe/carpet on the bed, to make comfortable, and keep items from sliding around. Best $40 I've spent on the Maverick, right after the wheel splash guards, which keep the sides MUCH cleaner in wet weather. (Impulse purchase at Home-Depot).

SIBL going to be $500-$600 roughly.

Not all finance rates suck… fords does.

I urge you all to look at the many finance rates for the many car manufacturers out there.

yup. Which is exactly why many decided to buy a different vehicle which some here think is blasphemy.

no, I won’t pay 7% on an unproven budget vehicle. I’ll take 3% and lower from other companies all day though :)

Yeah, I'm within your range with credit scores as well and 5.5% would make me walk away from the deal. Highest I've ever gone in even with iffy med/high credit scores was 2.9%.

This is a fine example of working hard to maintain a stellar credit score and getting screwed by dealerships, just because they think their product is important to the consumer. No thanks.

The dealership isn't dictating the rate. The lenders dictate the rate.
