Hey All,
I originally ordered a 2022 Maverick on 1/26/2022 (the day before order banks closed I believe) and the order rolled over to 2023 MY. I got tired of waiting and cancelled my order in the fall. Wife and I have been car sharing for 13+ months now and with my middle son taking his road test in two weeks, I was getting pressured by the misses to find her a new set of wheels so her current ride can go to my son. Spent a good chunk of the weekend calling and emailing dealerships within a three-hour drive and most either had no Maverick's available or if they did, a markup ranging from $2.5k to $10k over MSRP was the best they would do.
Found a Maverick a customer ordered but did not take delivery of. A 2023 XLT AWD, LUX, FX4, 4K Tow, & Tri-Fold Cover in Atlas blue with MSRP of $33,105 about an hour away and called. They were at $2k over MSRP initially. After some back and forth and one last attempt this afternoon, we struck a deal at $895 over. The catch was taking delivery tomorrow and financing through Ford at standard rates but I can pay it off in 3 or 4 months and get rid of the 6.99% loan. Not ideal pricing for sure but needing a ride, it was the best I could do. I would have liked a sliding rear window and CP360 for the bride but it is what it is.
I definitely screwed myself by cancelling the order when I did. That said, I figure if she likes it that much that I can order a 2024 on July 17th if she wants the hybrid, Lariat trim, or CP360 and if she doesn't, we can always get a new Ranger since we enjoyed the last one. Looking forward to getting my hands on one for more than a test drive.
Thanks,
Eric
