Taillight won't stay seated in place

Hello, has anyone had issues with the Taillights not staying seated in the White and Black Plugs in the bedside? My driver's side Taillight keeps popping out of the plugs and it is causing a gad next to the bed ? I've tried several times to reposition it and no luck. Any help would be appreciated

Yes this happens for one of two reasons.
1) Bolts are over tightened
2) The clips that hold the lights are either broken or not fully seated.

Mine were doing the same thing, if the clips come out when removing the taillights, either replace them, or add a little adhesive to help keep them in place.

Ah! I figured it was a typo, but couldn't figure out what for. And it is a word, but the definitions didn't seem to fit.

I fixed mine using rubber garden hose washers/gaskets as a spacer between the light assembly and the body where the bolts go in. I used 3m doublesided tape to hold the gaskets to the body. Then only tighten them a little beyond finger tight. If you crank the screws it will cause it to distort and pop the assembly out at the leading edge.

you can also add a little 3/8" wide 3M tape to the light assembly where it contacts the flange and create a camming effect for the (2) screws in the tailgate opening. i did, and did not overtighten. hasn't popped back out since (about 18 months)

i haven't replaced the fender retainers yet, but the next time an assembly pops out, i will take that step

Yes, going back to beginning productions. There's a TSB on them. You can search "taillights popping out" and enjoy the responses.

Take it to the dealer if still under 36K. Had my done for the driver's side replaced under warranty. Parts + labor was $350+ on the invoice.

I had mine replaced under warranty on a TSB. I have a 2024 XLT Eco. Mine started popping out at 10,000 miles. I have 31,000 miles now and no pop outs so far after repairs.
