Has anybody bought the new tear lights that are currently available for the 2025 Ford Maverick?
Google, there’s a couple options out there, but are they DOT approved

I ordered these for my 2025 XL and they looked great easy to install, very good fit , and truly plug and play. The problem I ran into is the reverse lights provide no light whatsoever when backing up they do light up but the tint is so dark it negates any light they put out. I have to back into a steep dark driveway and need back up light to see where I'm going. If not having back up light to help you see when in reverse you might be good with these.

"DOT approval" doesn't exist for aftermarket parts in the US. Manufacturers self-certify that they are compliant with FMVSS-108 and the applicable SAE standards, but I don't believe anyone ever verifies the claim.

When I worked as an engineer in aftermarket lighting, I never saw a tail light with a dark smoked lens pass photometric (beam pattern / "brightness" ) testing. I doubt that they would be bright enough. And yes, @stevj is correct -- the truck needs a rear red retroreflector. But your average cop probably wouldn't notice or care. If the manufacturer has marked the outer lens with the appropriate DOT and SAE markings in accordance with SAE J759, then you should have plausible deniability if they aren't compliant tail lamps. The liability should be on the manufacturer if they lied about the product. Proceed at your own risk, though.

I think the F design is pretty cool but my truck is painted Area 51 and smokey blacked out tail lights would not look good on my truck. I generally don't like the blacked out light look. If they had clear lens then maybe it would look good.
