Since I have had my 22 Lariat Lux I have never has an update on the sync 3. I am confused as to what version I have as it does not match the versions even remotely from what others have posted. If anyone can explain this I'd be grateful. See attached photo. Thanks

That's not the latest build for sure.

Turn on the wifi/connect, then check for an update.

Current production build is 22251. You are a little behind.

I'm thinking all this discussion is referring to non lux non sync 3 systems. I have non lux and no sync 3. It seems to me with sync 3 it would update over the air on its own.

Curious. Did your sync 3 update on its own?
Yes, but I set it up to do so. It still requires Wi-Fi to work and you have to set that up.

Ah so it's the build numbe

Ah thanks so it's the build number. I do have wifi setup and automatic update enabled. When I run search for updates it says my software is up to date. I ran it several times. No indication that the process failed.

Never updated mine since purchase in March 2022. Same version as yours.

Everything works great, no need to risk an update breaking something.

Just verified mine and it is 22251. Go into your wi-fi settings and make sure it is connected even if it says it is. I think if it fails it just doesn't do anything.

Sync3 only updates on its own if you have WiFi configured, the truck is within range & connected, and automatic updates are turned on. - I usually leave wifi off, and then turn it one once a month and manually invoke a check for updates.

I'm believe something updated last night, when I happened to check, as the radio stopped playing for 20 or 30 seconds during the update check, then resumed. - Takes several minutes by the way, and the screen will refresh many times during the check/update process.

I guess I don't understand Sync 3 too well. I just figured it would have access to servers no matter your location.

It'll tell Ford whether you are up to date or not. I know there is an update on my Explorer, for example, because Ford tells me there is one. But it won't do OTA updates. Needs wi-fi.

I just checked on Ford.com and shows version 3.4.23188 is available, I am still on 3.4.21194...When I try to update, mine just spins...I may try to shut off and re-connect and see if that helps mine download off wi-fi...

Well I tried my phone hotspot on both 2 and 5 ghz. Manualy look for updates. Tried several times. It says it's up to date with a timestamp of when I checked. Guess I will have to try the USB method. When I go to the Ford site and put in my vin it does show an update. Next oil change I will let them know but don't expect anything to be done.
