Surfing and diving

I have a lariat hybrid. What are folks doing with the key fob when you go surfing or diving and can't take the fob with you.

I have a 2020 Escape Titanium with the keypad and found that if you leave it in the car, lock with door button, then close the door, the horn will toot and the door will unlock. I found that when I wrap in Aluminum foil and hid it in the rear tire well, I can get the doors to stay locked if I bury it well enough. Try to find someplace in the Maverick you can do the same. Maybe under the back seat... Just a thought...

I've used a small dry box from Otterbox on many dives in the past with no water incursion. It's like 7"x5"x2", so is great for a BCD pocket, but I assume it may get in your way just crammed in your wetsuit for surfing.

If you push 7-8/9-0 on the keypad, with both doors closed, my Bronco Sport will not honk, and locks the doors with the key fob in the car.

I purchased the key pad for my 2024 Maverick and just need the dealership to program it. I hope it works the same way.

Will have to try that on my Escape. And whenever I get my Maverick. Ordered last August and all I get is no build emails from Ford. Every time I see build schedules I see one of my options as not available or limited supply. Grrrr. I thought the covid supply issue was behind us..

It works on Escape. Have done it a few times when we were flying out and daughter was flying in.
Lock keys in car. She uses code and off she goes.

Ya, no problem with a dry bag for diving. I'm going to try messing around with the key that comes out of the fob. Maybe I can leave the fob in the truck and use the key to lock the doors. And take the key with me.

I've got a 2024 lariat hybrid with no keypad. I'm having one installed, but I wanted to surf this weekend!

Thanks to this thread I got it worked out. I wrapped my keyfob in foil and that blocked the signal. I locked my truck with my apple watch. My watch worked to unlock it as well. My boyfriend went with me, so I did lock my key in his prius just to be safe. But, I was glad to find out that the apple watch + foil wrapped key does work. However, I can't wait to have my keypad installed.

I take off the physical key from the remote key, it can get wet. And most of my wetsuits have a spot to tie keys on to.

Keypad worked well for kayaking trips until the wire harness left the vehicle dead. A manual key is the only option in that situation. Lost confidence in keypad, apps.

Yes! That works. Just leave the fob in the truck and take the key with me. All good.
