Ive read through the various posts about the stock steel wheel lug nuts not working with Bronco Sport wheels.

Will the non steel wheel lug nuts work on the bronco sport wheels? Part #Ford (ACPZ-1012-M)

https://www.oemford.parts/oem-parts/ford-wheel-nut-acpz1012m

It appears to have the tapered end that is needed for the bronco sport wheels but would love if someone can help me verify.

Here are the dimensions

Yes, you'll be fine running the stock steel wheel lug nuts on a set of Bronco sport wheels. Most of those previous threads are filled with misinformation and just plain ole stupidity. As long as your lug nuts have a 60 degree conical seat and are M14x1.5 you're good to go. Your lug nuts may be a bit shy of being fully seated (due to width of the lug nut base relative to the seat of the wheel) but that doesn't matter. You're more interested in thread engagement.

Thank you for the reply. This makes sense. I'll just try to find the best quality M14x1.5 nut that won't expand or corrode/rust on me. Thinking mcgard 64074 may be the best choice since Gorilla was bought out and the rep I spoke with said they are no longer honoring the lifetime warranty since new company took over.

While the McGard #64074 is a solid choice, keep in mind that it takes a 22mm socket, rather than the 13/16" OEM. Dorman's 611-007 fits a 13/16" socket well, even though it's listed as 21mm.

I learned about needing a different lug wrench when I installed the Mcgard's recently during a tire rotation.........now have 2 lug wrenches behind the back seat

I like the dorman but I can only find it for $10 per lug. Kind of rich for my blood.

Speaking of lug nuts. Discount Tire guy said the Ford lug nuts are notorious for being soft and don't last. Haven't had a Ford in decades. I usually trust DT guys but does this make sense to anyone? Do I want to replace them before they strip? And if so, best alternatives to those who know this stuff and can keep me from having to get another lug wrench?

I think the main issue is that a lot of the OEM lug nuts now are 'two piece' - the shiny part is thin metal over the body of the nut. Eventually water gets between the two parts and corrodes and the outer part swells up and you can't get a wrench on them anymore.

We had to replace all the lugs on our 2016 Escape because of this. Probably going to preemptively replace Maverick Lugs to get ahead of this.

I'm wondering if the OEM lug nuts are the same for the XL (Steelies) and XLT (aluminum) rims?

I believe they are different. My XL Steelie wheels have open lug nuts on them. Looks like a nur you would see on a normal bolt around the shop.

Ford lugnuts are 2 piece garbage. They will fail at the worst possible time, lol. Get a good set of lugnuts or be prepared to cuss and lose your shit when you are on the side of the road with a flat.

This ^^^^^^^ X1000!!! I found out the hard way on my Focus. Spent half a day on a flat because of this.

The worst part is apparently Ford dealers don't say anything about this until it's too late. They just send you on your way with a potential situation where you can't get a wheel off the car. I'm getting mad again just thinking about it.
