Fun fact in the video he drives a new rare 350,000$ G class and guess what tires are on it? Yep Perrelii scorpions although in a larger size.

go figure!

I also changed mine out, they had good traction just couldnt stop with them and got 3 punctures in 20,000km.

No need for summer winter tires. They perform great in all seasons. Tire rack has videos of testing and google has many positive reviews as well

Correct, as i don’t care what other people think. I have black wheels on my six figure cars to that to others likely look like steel wheels. But since i didn’t buy the wheels for them and am not trying to impress them…..

They load up quickly and don't eject snow and ice. Definitely not an AT tire.

Back in 1993 I got a used 1990 Ford Probe GT, the only front wheel drive vehicle I ever owned. Coming down an off-ramp towards a stoplight. The back end kicked out. Fishtailed one way then the other way and took out 40 ft of the fence along the road. Needless to say I don't own front wheel drive vehicles anymore. $4,000 later, I went to get new tires and they recommended Pirelli HP. Which I was actually surprised how well they worked in the snow. Sounds like the company went downhill with the scorpions tires. For my 2001 Ford Ranger Edge I need new tires in 2018 I got Firestone Destination LE tires. Which I loved, and if I need new tires someday I'll get those again for my Maverick.

Pirelli makes some excellent tires, unfortunately those that come on the Maverick AWD are not on that list.

Switching things up, I just ordered new tires for my Hybrid from TireRack last night to replace the stock tires. I have other AWD/4x4 vehicles and don’t care about the best, most aggressive performance on my Hybrid, I just wanted an all season tire that could perform better in the winter than the anemic stock Conti’s. I’ll do zero off-road and very little snow driving with this Maverick. I ordered continental CrossContact ATRs that come in at 25 lbs. relatively new to the U.S. market but available in Europe/Australia for years. I’ll be the guinea pig here, but if someone has an AWD and needs a more capable off road tire the CrossContacts are likely not for them.

So far, I’ve had a lot of success with my Wildpeak AT3Ws at 255/65R17. Excellent winter performance. I haven’t felt any slipping even on icy roundabouts. It does great in slush and on several inches of snow. I also really appreciate having the Slippery mode to not overpower the wheels.

Any idea how your mileage was affected?

255s are bigger than I'd go. I was thinking more along the lines of stock 225s or 235s

I get this question often and here is my response: I don’t care. I installed a Race Chip GTS and I set it to Race 7. I installed a throttle controller and it’s set to Sport +2. I drive on Sport mode almost always. I drive in traffic and not on the highway. I idle the engine every day for long periods.

I think I’m around 18 MPG right now.

But seeing as you won’t consider tires my size… I don’t know why it matters.

Except I hate the wheels too. My truck was supposed to be optioned with the silver wheels and instead I got the black FX4 wheels.
I also think the optional (silver) FX4 17" wheels are the nicest. I ordered a set from Ford.com. Checked picking them up from different dealers around me (price changes some) until I found the lowest OTD price of right at $1200 including core and tax. The other aftermarket wheels I was considering were about the same cost or more and if I ever need to replace one, a matching OEM should be much easier to find than any of the aftermarket ones. I already know someone with an XL that wants my 18" BAP wheels for what I paid for the set so all it will cost me is a set of tires and TPMS sensors.

Similar genuine Ford BAP 18" wheels are ~$633 a set of (4) to include (4) 315MHZ (2022-2024 Maverick) sensors, the sensor tool and center caps.. I had (2) sets of the similar Bronco Sport 17" black First Edition (FX4-like) wheels on my first 2 Mavericks, and just ordered a set for my 2026. The complete 'kit' was $606, no sales tax and total shipping was about $125.

Good luck...

2.0 AWD 4k and I can't believe how poorly these tires handle snow/ice. I expected mediocre performance from stock tires, but these are borderline dangerous.

The AWD/traction control system does a good job controlling grip taking off from a stop, but once you get moving forward - good luck stopping - or turning. Holy crap.

Somehow these tires got rated "good" 6.8/10 in snow/winter from Tire Rack. Quatsch!
I'm late to the party but I have these tires on my 2024. Moved north into snow country last summer and I share your opinion regarding these particular tires. They're actually pretty good on dry roads and wet roads - no complaints in those conditions. But in the snow, I have experienced the same issues that you have - they do reasonably well at taking off, but horrible on stopping and turning.

I would classify them as, at best, an old-school all season tire that pretends to be all-terrain. But they're not competition for anything like the BFG AT/KO tires or any 3-peak winter tires.

I will probably be replacing them this fall, even though I only have 25,000 miles on them. And I may actually opt for the same tire size used on the tremor (235/65 R 17) which, to me, look a little better and I can still program the computer for that tire size with Forscan.

If I lived in Florida and never saw snow, I'd probably be more content with these tires. But I don't (though I do visit from time to time).
