Was going to take Maverick to run some errands. Pulled out of driveway and had a noise that sounded like I had a lug nut loose in the hubcap. Since there are no hubcap on my XLT; took off the right rear tire and found something between the brake rotor and the back plate. Took a bit of effort to get it out, would only come out in one place at the top of the rotor. Here are pictures of the issue, the place it came out of and the object itself. I assume a squirrel was able to get it in there.

You seem to have experienced one of those improbable but not so rare little mechanical mysteries! This all fits well with a foreign body stuck, probably by external intrusion...

I had a squirrel wrap himself around the front strut of my car after a neighborhood cat chased him around. I couldn’t extricate him at my house, so after driving to work and back to my parents house for tools, I managed to remove him by pulling him tail first out of the spring assembly.

This just happened to me with a pecan!!!! Sounded like I was dragging a bunch of tin cans behind my truck and only thought to check between rotor and brake shield because of this thread. Big thank you to JRADD for flagging that this happened. Damn squirrels. There is no other way it could have been pushed up into there.
