Sport Mode

For the first time today I put my Hybrid in Sport mode. It shifted 5 times until I reached my speed, being as it is a planetary CVT it must be simulated. Any thoughts.

Shifted???....I can't say that I've ever felt something like shifting. I have '22 hybrid with almost 13k miles and it's always smooth up to 45, never feel anything like shifting. I like to put it in sport mode in one spot that's a stop on an uphill, and it always outruns every other vehicle. But doesn't give me anything like a shift.

Fake shift points. I noticed it the couple times I used Sport mode. That, and the MPG sucked!

I've gotten really used to the Hybrid's smooth, no-shift eCVT. Sport mode's fake shift points seemed silly.

I think it's hilarious! Kinda fun to launch from a red light in Sport mode. I wish it simulated an old 4 speed.

My '22 in Sport Mode really feels like it's shifting: sound, feel, motion. All fake, but feels real.

If by "may be different" you mean "is completely different" then I agree with you.

There are excellent videos on YouTube explaining how an eCVT works (same technology shared by Ford and Toyota). I like the ones by WeberAuto.

It is different. When reversing, for instance, it's only using the electric drive motor since there's no provision for mechanically reversing the output like a regular transmission (CVT or otherwise) would have.

I’ve seen the video. And history about this eCVT drive. I could only assume the actual CVT drive has that metal chain on two movable V grooved sheaves.
