Spin on transmission filter

I have saw an add on filter on various heavy equipment, trucks, etc. Has anyone tied into the transmission line and added a spin on filter ? There are several adapters out there. Is there some reason this wouldn't work on a 24 with 2.0 engine ? Anyone make a kit ?

Sure you could get various adapters and unions but I personally don’t see a need for one on a Maverick. The filter on the transmission that is already there is plenty for the truck.

If you added a filter the fluid pressure might go out of spec with the system having to push through two.
Might do harm. I’d want to hear from the engineer that developed the tranny.

You did not say if you had an Eco or Hybrid engine/transmission. The Hybrid eCVT only has a few gears and should not need an extra filter. It is one of the simplest transmission you can get.

He said a 2.0. I believe the EB is the only 2.0 liter. The Hybrid ICE is a 2.5L.

I agree with Cherokee. I'd be afraid that adding external flow and a filter would increase both fluid volume and pressure requirements but I'm no engineer.

From what I understand…..The transmission filter is inside the transmission. To get to it, need to remove transmission and prob open it. One would think after 10k miles, prudent to drain, add new fluid, and hope initial break in contamination removed, and tranny good for life thereafter, hoping filter doing its job keeping fluid somewhat clear, clean.

Well any fluid coming out of the transmission going to the cooler has already gone through the internal filter… so what is the point of having a filter after the filter?? There is no way to get into the pressure side without having gone through the stock filter. Now if you added a filter loop from the drain and level plugs…

If you disregard the advice already given, you would need to anchor the filter assembly to the frame to prevent leaks due to vibration. You will also introduce four more possible leak points to the system.
