Being that Ford cut off ordering I strongly suspect that they reached a number that they felt confident that they would be able to actually build. Of course that doesn't necessarily mean it will happen, but they definitely have forecasted the '23 model year and knew they couldn't build 5 million.

I suspect almost every order will likely be built based solely on that and what Ford may have learned from Bronco orders. I know that's an extremely optimistic outlook given their track record, but seeing that they stopped ordering as quickly as they did gives me (false?) hope.

Further, I suspect that when they figure out how to build the orders they'll either reopen the order banks or just pump out retail orders. Or both.

Again, this is likely extremely optimistic but business acumen teaches that planning for the unexpected is a recipe for success. Are you listening, Ford? Do you need me to be a keynote speaker at your next event? :)
If I hadn't read some of the dealer allocation stories on here, I would agree with you. What you are saying makes sense to me, but apparently allocations are really low.....

Like many of you I ordered September 15th and received a confirmation email from Ford. I think the vast majority of us avoided all currently known constraints. I ordered an XL Hybrid with the ONLY option being the 400W inverter. I'm suspecting March - April delivery.

Go ahead, crush my dreams! When do you expect BASIC September 15th hybrids to be delivered?
From a person who ordered a ‘22 Maverick on 15 Oct, and was emailed a build date of 9/19, then 9/26, and now 10/3, I’d say you’ll be waiting from now to eternity!

I ordered a Hybrid XLT with lux and spray in bed liner. Last one took 9 months. I expect 9-12 months for this one.
I ordered hybrid XLT LUX plus 3 add-ons 8/27/2021 and it's on the train now so maybe here in 13.3 months.

Maybe Ford's doling (I have always wondered if to dole out something was originated to describe how Dole fruit sold their bananas or chose the name because they planned to do it that way?) out of the allocations is planned to reward or penalize certain dealerships actions? Hey maybe they call it a Dollar because some dude named Dole passed out money for some tribal chief?

Remember, they build all trims and configurations at once so there's going to be "fancy" hybrids rolling off the line come November, too. It just decreases one's odds of being scheduled to have a more constrained configuration.

One of the major differences in production is that the hybrids will be scheduled and built right away unlike last year. I believe hybrid didn’t start production until last December 21. I think more people will get there maverick then expected but it would be ideal to know how many orders were actually placed. I don’t think it’s as high as some have suggested. Long McArthur numbers will definitely be an outlier in this process because I wouldn’t be surprised if they gathered up most orders within a 1000 mile radius. My medium size dealer in the Chicago suburbs only had two orders by the second day.

I ordered a EB Lariet Lux AWD Tow and off road package. I think Ford scared away a lot of people when they listed the constrained options. So I figured why not order the works and see what happens
Exactly what I did, Lariat lux awd EB, fx4 with all the available options, no rush because I have multiple vehicles so I'm not even gonna track it. I want it to be a surprise when my dealer calls and says it's in! I'm ok waiting a year or more if that's what it takes

I ordered an XLT Hybrid with the Lux package and Co Pilot 360. I wont have an issue swapping the EB from the Hybrid. Not giving up the other packages. If they cant build it my way I will go to GM or Chevy for the new Canyon or Colorado.

My dealer had 45 total, I ordered on the 3rd day of 6.

My order is an AWD Ecoboost XLT with Lux pkg/4k tow/sliding window and remote start. All I know for certain is that they have $1000 as a downpayment and I got my confirmation email while I was sitting there, and that I will be paying sticker price exactly ( can't believe I'd ever say that ) when it arrives. As far as speculating, I'm not even going to bother - too many factors well beyond my control to waste mental bandwidth on ;-)

This will be the second new vehicle of 12 I bought I'll pay sticker for. The other was a Sunburst Orange 2007 HHR panel, that no one had. Local dealer bought it from another dealer and wouldn't haggle, but they gave me a decent trade.
