Our business has twelve '22 hybrid Mavericks on order from October 2021. They were assigned VINs, but then converted to '23s in November 2022.

Five of the trucks arrived at the delaer today. Our salesperson, who we've worked with for years, says they can't find anything in the system to unlock the private offer and the price is showing as the same. He said he's trying to contact the Ford representative, but his hands may be tied.

I'm going to contact some Ford fleet people we've spoken to before (we have 40+ vehicles currently) to see what they can do.

Any other levers to pull? Is this happening to other people? How should we fix it?

Yes, of course it is happening to others. Happened to us.

Here is the text of a relevant memo sent to dealers when the private transition offers were announced:

The memo is EFC10955.

Here's the relevant bit:

If you believe your customer should have been included in this private offer, and did not receive a certificate, please contact your Sales and Inventory Specialist. We will need the required customer information (Customer Name, Address, Order Number, ROVP verification) and we will confirm eligibility and add the customer to the list.

Customer must have an unscheduled 22MY retail order that was enrolled and approved in Maverick’s COVP Lead to Order Program prior to the previously-communicated cut-off date of 11/17/2021 for Maverick Hybrid orders and 2/2/2022 for Maverick EcoBoost Gas orders in order to qualify for the private offer.

MY22 orders that had VINs were handled a little differently, if I recall.

But the bottom line is that a simple discrepancy between the MY22 and MY23 orders — in buyer’s name, address, phone number — is enough to make the two orders not “connect,” and therefore a private offer certificate is not generated by the Ford system..

Here’s some more explanatory info I saved that may be helpful:

- - There are two conditions that must apply for the transition private offer.

First, your 2022 order must have been COVP (Customer Order Verification Program) approved. It's Ford's way of verifying the order is for an actual person and not a name put on an order so the dealer can attempt to get more inventory.

Second, your truck did not get built and you were rolled over to a 2023 order. If these 2 conditions are met, you qualify for the private offer. No question.

When the offer doesn't show up it is typically because of mismatched or mislinked information between orders. Ford will not fix this, only the dealer can take care of it, working with their Ford Inventory Specialist.

Your dealer has to contact their sales rep and/or their inventory specialists to get it worked out.

**** If your dealer knows you qualify, they can file an exception (ETP = Exception To Policy). That’s what it takes to fix this. They need to have the COVP verification number, and your two order numbers.

In our case, it wasn ‘t showing up because our MY22 order was entered with a space in our last name, and our MY23 order had no space. Or it could be something like your address was entered with “Ave” in one order, and “Av“ in the other.

It ‘s just that stupid….

Thanks to this forum, we knew a lot more about what needed to be done than our sales rep or sales manager. They were nice enough to work with, but just weren’t fully informed.

Once they finally got through to the right person at Ford, they filed for the exception, and it got straightened out. It delayed our oicking up the truck for a few days, but it was worth it.

Good luck!

**** OTHERS WHO HAD UNBUILT MY22 ORDERS ARE ADVISED: As soon as you get a VIN on your MY23 build, verify that you have a private offer certificate in the system. You can try Ford customer service to do this first — they will need your order numbers, name, address, etc. If it’s in there, ask for the certificate number.

Or go right to your dealer and ask them to check. If it’s not in there, get the ball rolling early to get them to file the exception.

Also note: It’s critical that your dealer did the COVP on your MY22 order. You won’t get the discount without it … and if he didn’t COVP it, then you are s. out of luck for getting the discount.

Appreciate the info! Do you know what ROVP verification means? I wonder if the order's being in the name of an LLC make a difference regarding COVP.

Retail Order Verification Program.
Same thing as COVP

I wouldn’t think it would make a difference. ROVP (Retail Order Verification Program) and COVP (Customer Order Verification Program) are pretty much the same thing. It just verifies that you are and actual person or company ordering the truck(s).

Sure. I’ve sent it in a conversation.

Good luck. As always, it pays to remain pleasant … but persistent.

I never received the special private offer, though I was entitled to it. My dealer did everything correctly. The dealer started chasing after it for me in late December 22. It took until the end of January to receive the special offer number. My dealer said it was a bit of work to get it done. My truck is scheduled for April 23, sometime, maybe.

Bottom line; anyone looking for the special offer needs to be way out in front of it. After the truck arrives, it's probably too late to get it. Based on how well Ford is handling orders and manufacturing for the Maverick, did you expect the special offer would be handled any better?

Is COVP required for both 22 and 23 orders, or just the 22 order to get the Private offer?

I think just the MY22 order. That’s the tracking number they need.

(I believe Ford dropped the requirement for COVP for MY23 orders, although my sales rep submitted our MY23 order to COVP anyway, just in case.)

Here are some other notes I kept about this:

The private offer should be in the certificate inquiry for unscheduled 22 orders. (Need to have received COVP approval on 2022 order. That was required in getting a private offer.)

Ford Marketing said the private offer was supposed to be automatic and linked to your name, mailing address, and phone number on file when the MY22 order was placed (and they need all three of these things to look up the Private Offer).

It is supposed to show up in the dealer’s SmartVincent Certificate Inquiry system once the MY23 order has a VIN.

Private offer is applied to the sticker price at time of sale.

Private Offer is not just tied to your name. It is tied to your name, address, and phone number. If any one of these is off by a single character, then no Private Offer will be in the system "at time of sale". The only way to know that you have a Private Offer is to call Ford Marketing or have your dealer check it in their system.

There is no expiration date on the certificate offer. You just have to have placed the replacement 23MY order by the deadline — 9/20/22 for hybrid, 9/21/22 for ecoboost.

This gets locked in on a retail order based on the order date. With rare exception, since it was valid on the date of order, it's still available for redemption when the truck does come in. The dealer just has to make sure to pull up the incentives based on the order date, not the delivery date.

Just picked mine up last night. The dealer told me they would not know what Ford was offering until the Maverick came in. The certificate was automatically with the vehicle it was 2,750 off the price! I was very pleased! LOVE MY NEW MAVERICK!!

Thank you for sharing this useful information!!

After trying for many days, I managed to speak with my Sales rep last night. I was trying to confirm that my private offer was in place since my Mav is scheduled to be built on 3/1 and I did add extra packages to my order last month.

He told me that my Private Offer Rebate was not in the system although my original MY23 roll-over order from last September had it. He said that most of the roll-over orders were missing this rebate, so he promised to email Ford to rectify the situation. He said it would be sorted out in about one week.

So, I agree that it is a common situation. I have not changed my name, address or phone no in the last 4 years, so it must be something small that caused the system to decouple my MY22 and MY23 orders. Sigh...

Got the ROVP for all of 12 of the '23 orders from Ford Marketing. They only had 1 '22 order still in the system (out of the 12) and gave me the ROVP for that one. Ford Marketing said they'd create a review so it gets addressed, but the dealer will be able to move the fastest by working with their Ford Rep. They gave me a case # for the marketing review, but didn't promise any follow-up.

@KdeB these '23 orders didn't rollover until Nov '22 because we had VINs/build dates for September! We didn't place the rollover by 9/20/22 (as we didn't think we needed to). You think that'll be a problem? The Ford Marketing rep didn't seem to think there'd be any issue, although he didn't come across as the most knowledgeable in the world either.

I think I mentioned above that MY22 orders that had VINs — like yours , mostly hybrids — were handled a little differently, as Ford put a system in place to actually "roll them over" to MY23.

(As opposed to unscheduled MY22 orders, like ours, that never got a VIN. We technically didn't have our order "rolled over," but had to submit a whole new order for MY23. That's what those dates were for: Unbuilt MY22 orders had to be submitted as MY23 orders by those dates in order to get the private offer.))

Since you had VINs on these cars, but they never got built, you should NOT have a problem, but good for you for getting a case number set with Ford Marketing, just in case.

And for getting all those ROVP numbers, which I understand is what your dealer's Ford rep will need to get the private offer s to show up.

It really didn't take our sale manager long — working with a Ford rep — to get our private offer.... Once he understood what he had to do.

Good luck!
