I looked at buying a "Y" since the price drop...but with a 2022 bronco 2 door, and a hybrid mav along with an EB mav...I just couldn't come up with enough saving to justify the Y. The hybrid has averaged 40.8 mpg since I have owned it, almost 23k miles. Although the Y is more efficient, with KW being roughly .25 at charging stations...it was pretty much a wash. Living in SE Michigan, the range drop in the winter is roughly 25 percent. I also have an F150 lightning reserved...within the first few hours...but like everyone knows...ford has been pulling my pud on placing an actual order. Wanted to go with the pro at 40k, now it is 56k and not even available. They want you to take the lariat plunge at 75k. Can't do it for 200 miles.

With the recent price drop, I went ahead and ordered a Tesla Model Y Performance. I know, not the same vehicle or price. I already have a truck so the Maverick was just an extra vehicle for gas saving. The Tesla will deliver in about 1 month, I have no idea when the Maverick will be here.... I will check out the Maverick when it delivers, if it ever does... Mostly for the wife but with an EV, Bronco and a truck I don't see much need for the Maverick anymore.
Hopefully you will not be SORRY. Everyone gets to make their own choices. Best of luck to you and own your decision, no reason to be sorry.

The hype, possible fleet vehicle (but I don't think my guys would drive it and I bought 2 sierras since), possible future vehicle for my 14 yo but to nice lol, check it out....

I love my Bronco which was a factor for pro Ford.
Seems reasonable. Prolly shoulda stated this in your original post.... would've saved you a lot of grief. ;)

You should have titled your post:

"Sorry, I started an irrelevant Tesla thread on MTC"
And your quote should have a disclaimer:

"Sorry. I posted a useless comment on an irrelevant Tesla thread on MTC"

I maybe a large TSLA shareholder trying to increase the hype and take market share from Ford :)

Or just add to the EV vs Hybrid vs ICE conversation.

I love the fuel argument.

go bust out a calculator and let me know how long it’ll take to recoup the 30k difference.

let me know when they finally refresh a model.
They just refreshed two last year.

Sure screw almost a decades worth of used car data that would totally refute Mr. Woozoo's emotional claim that used Teslas depreciate when in fact the total opposite is true.

The insurance on my model 3 is less than it was on my Bronco by $109.

Also - Tesla slashed the prices of their new cars and guess what happened to CarMax's Tesla inventory? It more than halved in less than 24 hours....(pssssst - Tesla only dropped the Model Y and 3 prices to qualify for the federal tax break).

https://insideevs.com/news/631542/carmax-sold-57-percent-tesla-inventory-24-hours/

You were saying?
CarMax sold more than half because they had to dump them, for a huge loss mind you. They were trying to sell them for 60k just the night before, for a 2021 model year. Now overnight they were selling them for 40s. What happened to used Tesla value? What happen to those that brought a 60k Model Y just weeks before? Whats is their car worth now?

Every time someone posts about moving on from the mysterious waiting game we are playing for the little truck we want..... There is always a handful of idiots that want to try to shame that person for sharing their choices. It's ridiculous.

These trucks are not the holy grail.

And the long wait to get one gives people time to think about going other directions. And when someone does choose to go a different direction, I think it is actually very good that they share where they chose to go, as that could enlighten someone else to go the same direction.

And for myself, I never thought much about Teslas, and for sure thought they were unpractical and somewhat stupid vehicles. That has changed in the last few months, now that I have two good friends that purchased them and they offered me a chance to drive them. Now that I have driven these cars, I am actually a big fan of them. If for no other reason than how hard they accelerate.... Granted both cars I drove were " Dual motor " editions and I suspect they are faster than lower trim levels.... But WOW, I have never been in a vehicle that takes off as hard as these do. And the technology in these vehicles is second to none and can do things no other vehicle can do.

I would not want one to be my sole vehicle, mainly because I don't want the hassles of charging times on road trips or having to worry about finding a charge in rural areas..... Plus I do a lot of light towing with all my vehicles and towing kills the range on a EV, but to have a Tesla in addition to a gas or gas hybrid vehicle you could use for long road trips is not a bad idea.

One more thing to consider when one of you guys wants to try to make this guy feel stupid for purchasing a Tesla..... Consider that there are ALOT of people that think a Ford Maverick is a stupid vehicle as well. Hell my wife thinks its a crappy cheap looking piece of junk and she has told me repeatedly that she doesn't understand why I would want one. I know many people would say why would you want to shell out 35 to40+ grand for a Maverick ( yes I know you can get a basic stripped down XL for low 20's ) over buying a nearly new pre owned F150 for the same money. Yeah, bottom line is respect the mans decision and maybe you might learn that there ARE other vehicle choices that work if your tired of playing the waiting game.
