All modern paint is garbage, so stick with silver or gray, so that it's less noticeable when half of the vehicle is raw metal. ;)

If you are worried, get paint protection film. Just a clear vinyl wrap. Pretty easy to install yourself if you have patience, a heat gun, spray bottom, cutting utensil, and plastic scraper. Or generally there are die cut ones out there as well. I know I just added some weathertech precut films to my headlamp lens, now I'm waiting for more film for paint.

But paint doesn't seem softer or chippier then anything I've owned in the past 10 years.

I am definitely going to get some quotes on PPF. I have never considered it before but the older I get, the more I find myself eating my words, "I'll never...."

Well, Just as I was raving about not having "soft paint" issues on my CG Maverick it happened as I tried to install LED's in the side markers using a pry tool, tape and a microfiber it seems the paint has a dented or warped appearance to it.

Followed exactly in the manual and extra persuasions too.

Just don't look too closely. I made that mistake. :D To be fair, I took mine down some abandoned forest service roads, so I can't complain. Don't think I have much chipped on the front end, which I am surprised by.

That's exactly why I tell my wife to stop relying on Dr Google for her medical diagnoses.
For me its probably because I've been on forums for every vehicle I've owned and I've come out thinking all were going to explode in 20 min.

I have seen a few threads which suggest the potential for soft paint. It seems like most of these reference Cactus Grey to be the most common. I don’t know if this is due to it being a popular and more common color, or is there a “weakness/softness” to the materials/paint process.

Without getting into all the geeky science, is there a Maverick color that seems to be holding up stronger to the elements? Which seems to be weakest?
It could be the baking process there building so many vehicles to catch up they may not be baking them as long to achieve the proper temperature to harden the paint properly.
