That can happen when a crash occurs.
Prolly so fast the Mav Driver couldn’t get out of the way of the idiot.

Some where someone will call that a bad accident. It was not an accident, that implies it was a mistake.
It was a crash because of someone’s bad decision.

I wonder if the driver's seat ended up in the back row of the Maverick?
Yeah I remember that guys front seat latch bolt completely broke upon impact ending up taking a backseat wake-up call -

I'd like to know if the women in the rear seat was wearing a seatbelt. I recently saw a video that showed the rear occupants of mavericks don't fair nearly as well as the front seat occupants.

Yep.
I realize the below was caused by a rear end collision.

It amazes me that wasn't picked up during the crash testing, unless that was a real fluke.
Based on the photo we have no way of knowing if someone raised the seat and used weak hardware store bolts. 1 example would not indicate Ford has a design issue. Also anything can fail if enough force is applied.
EDIT: Thanks to @Glen Baker LLC educating me I enlarged the photo so my old eyes could see that the base of the seat is still bolted down. I mistakenly saw the entire seat flipped back when in fact that is the console lid flipped up. Ignore my BAD reply about bolts.

It was not owner replaced weak hardware.🙄
This is been happening for years.
The internet has given it far more exposure than one 3 minute. segment on the evening news.

According to auto manufacturers it is intentionally designed to collapse as it does.
Believe it or not the video below is from 9 years ago. Give me a little time and I will find the engineer testimony that this is what it's supposed to do.

This is what it looks like with a child sitting behind you when the front seat back collapses. The adults head smashes into the child's face.
I took screenshots from the video.
I never knew that this was a situation that could happen and I'm utterly appalled that it has not been corrected.

Here's a fairly recent story out of Oregon we're an infant child was killed because of it.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.oregonlive.com/business/2020/09/seatback-failures-a-hidden-danger-in-many-vehicles.html?outputType=amp

On average 50 children a year are killed because of collapsing front seats.

Not because of replacement bolts🙄
