I’m interested to find a small tool box, similar to those aluminum jobs that goes across the top of truck beds. But will fit “inside” the bed, up against the wall, under the window. Very low profile, so to speak. Something to put a small floor Jack, some tools to do flat tires, a DC powered air compressor, or even a DC powered impact wrench. I have these tools left over from our days of travels with a RV, but no longer have the RV. And not much room inside the cab for these kinds of tools.
Any suggestions?

Yeah, I've seen a u-tube video where they put black aluminum diamond plate lockable boxes on both sides of the rails. I think that and the diamond plate tool box you described are a waist.

I think a better option is a hard tonneau cover. Pretty inexpensive online and many threads about them on the site. This allows bed cover or removed for hauling. It also offers security with a locking tailgate. It still offers room with a HD plastic tote. The tote can carry your tools you described but also can be removed to use the whole bed for hauling. This is a whole lot easier than removing and reinstalling a toolbox. Also even if you have to remove the tote you may still have room to keep the jack in the bed just in case it's needed. I keep a small 2 ton hydraulic jack in the back along with several hitch receivers and a car stand. If needed they are easily removable. The car stand is used on the back of a trailer while loading line, fertilizer etc with a hilo. They have to either get an extension or another pallet to slide the pallet forward enough to distribute the weight properly. Otherwise the to much weight pulling the tongue up and undo stress on the coupler.

Anyway I like this option with the tonneau cover the best. The tonneau cover works best for my needs and comes in handy to keep groceries etc dry and safe in case I'm stopping at several stores or other businesses. Best wishes on what you decide. I think my hard tonneau cover was like 360 delivered, I'm extremely happy with my decision going that route. I've only had to remove the items once or twice when needing the bed. I also have a tote with 4 way, hauling blankets, cloth grocery bags etc.

Hope you at least consider this option.

I have. But opt not to go that route. The bed n tailgate is spray lined. Had a Colorado bed spray liner, with Bak tonneau. It was ok. Last truck was F250, also spray lined but no top as the fifth wheel hitch would interfere.
I’ve seen few trucks with floor jacks thrown in back, out in the weather. Just want better protection, storage for my prized tools.

I have the SIBL and a hard trifold tonneau cover. The jack is not in the weather with the tonneau cover. Besides you can put it in the HD tote with your tools which has a top. Then it and everything else is covered with the tonneau cover.

Home Depot sells Husky Plastic tool boxes. I have had a large sized one in my comanche for 4 years. It hold all my tools and supplies. They also have low profile ones. Yes they are plastic but a prybar can break into a diamond plate box just as fast as a thick plastic one. If you have a low profile one and a tonneau you are golden. They are around 2ftx3ft and around a foot deep.

I would look online, habor freight and others have varios metal or plastic tool boxes , or trailer tounge boxes that may be the size your looking for . A few strategicly placed nut - sert style nuts placed in your bed and big 1/2” bolts with fender washers would work good.good layout is key here , especially if you were to add a bed cover or top later.

I check Amazon, found a storage, toolbox that will work. It’s 30” width x 13” deep, x 9.5” high. Will fit in between the bed lower partitions. I did a save for later, in hopes someone will put in Santa’s bag. 😆

Maverick 2022-2024 Undercover Right Hand Side Pivot Storage Box
VNZ6Z17N004B
$219.00

o I got one of these, haven't opened it as of yet, but can tell it is small. But it fits on either side just inside the bed near the tailgate, bolts into the side and swings open. U can get one for both sides to have enough room. I got mine free from the points I earn. It is for my 25' maverick coming later this year. Check them out on Ford Truck Bed Accessories.

Thanks for the info. I’m not keen for swing out side mounted box. Preference of inside the bed boc.

I keep my tools and prized possessions in the back seat. The amount of room back there is one of the reasons I like the Maverick. It is dry secure and climate controlled.

The window comes all the way down to the bed rail in the Maverick. Any traditional tool box would either be too small or block the rear view.

I welcome any ideas on a tool box that would better fit in the back seat space. I use seatcovers and soft tool bags to organize stuff. One bag for fishing, another for carpentry tools.
I also put in two cubbys. They have more space than you think. I keep bungies and cam straps in one and the tow hitch in the other.

You are organized, no doubt. I prefer to keep back seat area uncluttered, useable for other reasons. I have a small floor Jack, a 12 vdc impact wrench in a case, torque wrench, and can’t see putting that In the back seat area. Hence, a small box that could fit in bed area, yet not take up too much room.
I need to dream up a method to quickly remove the box just in case wife wants more dirt for her garden. 😆 I seen RV guys put gas tank in rear held down with nylon straps, very good feature.

As you're aware, some of those items may fit in the storage area under the back seat. If you use that and the beds' two cubby storage boxes, you may be able to scale down the kind of and size box you need in the bed.
